Ah so you're getting some more suitable speakers and amplifiers.

About time really Nick. We've been telling you for ages.

Just think ... week after week ... month after month .... cursing your own lack of foresight, by having chosen a flat with a tiny living space. Having to put up with poor sound all that time....

earlier in the thread you mentioned white noise amps but i think they will sound worse than the brystons.
have you changed your mind this morning ?:MILD:
if you want dynamics and control you could try the big tact or lab gruppen pro amps.
i still think down the line you will have to try a better speaker design as thorsten says which will be less fussy in room.
i think your front end tt is pretty good your phono stage is not though plus its dead so i would look at something else'
i think the top heed phono stage into megs would make a good noise and you could get that set up by flogging off your brystons and pmc's.

Cmom bub its getting old now. The room size isnt the problem.

Well we will see I guess. I like the brystons and pmcs so have no intention of flogging them until I hear something better.

I think pot-shots at my system are slightly uncalled-for: no-one's given it a bad review.

you have to admit though it is quite comical.
there was everyone thinking your system had stunt bass and it is now tagged with being bright and fatiquing to listen to'

so you can't even say you have a pleasant to use system.

that and the failure of your source components.
maybe you should try some of thorstens basic valve circuits after all.

or buy a second hand linn lp12 at least you can get spares and or tweak them and they certainly don't sound bright.

bet you wish you had a nice warm sounding lyra now to reduce the spotlit mid / treble.

It does put his Lyra remarks into perspective: if what you are used to is an over-bright, fatiguing, bass-light sound, as BBV clearly is, then a neutral/lean cartridge might well sound "warm" in comparison.

Well PT kit is very unreliable - its been with Arthur for 6 months already. As for the phono I fear my soldering may be to blame.

Tenson found it bright - I didnt after the django was put in. I found it absolutely gripping. Thats personal preference. The effect isnt very large but onviously Tenson likes a more relaxed sound. Thats his choice. There is no bad review. I dont think any mention was made of the system being bass light - the bass firmed up after the digtial eq which is to be expected. Only merlin ever thought the system had stunt bass whatever that is :p My turntable wasnt used - just a cheap dvd player so no point taking pot shots at the deck :D

As I recall bub negative comments have been directed at your system on another forum.

I am sure things will shift as the transformation progresses! I am well aware you love making mountains out of molehills when given the opportunity. In fact I am surprised you arent all a lot more bloodthirsty! The attnetion I ma getting seems to be almost tender!

I don't recall any negative comments - in fact, I think people were uncommonly kind.

But this is not about my system, it's about your "fatiguing" system, which you still seem to see as "good". Why do you think it's "good". IOW what's good about it?

Huh? How on earth do you work these things out?

Trying to "have a go" at my system just because your system has attracted adverse comment, does seem a bit bizarre.

Nope I am just swatting flies. When you add something useful to the thread rather than just being a windup artist then I will reciprocate.

Oh, come on, where's your sensayuma? After interminable discussions about room-shaking bass, it turns out you don't have any! You can't blame us for having a little titter.

Give it a rest! This constant sniping is becoming very tedious. So your flat is bigger than his ... or his is smaller than yours. Who bloody well cares. It's got sod all to do with hifi! There's just too much willy waving going on here. Grow up and stop being so purile.
