I'm am an ethusiast of Usher Loudspeakers.
But I think that only some models have to be considered as best of all and valuable for a true hifi at the high end level for all.
    These are:
    520,X719,CP730,737,738.
These models have to be considered as best buy i Think.
So I like to stimulate to discuss about sound and not about that some other models are similar in design to best known speakers.
These models are not copy of any other. and the sound is fantastic for their price,350, 1300 euro, 1800 euro, 2900 euro ,rispectivelly.

    Sorry for my english.

Yes it's true: I'm a single person company.
I decided to direct buy these models and to sell it in Italy.
But I'm looking other opinions after my opinion and who came in my little shop in the Dolomiti mountains.
I hope this is not a problem.

Welcome along Paul, Zerogain is always open to new people and equipment :) On Z/G though it is customery to put your 'trade credentials' in your signiture, so letting ther other posters know what your assocation is with products/services :)
Z/G is a pretty free place to air your views, however blantant advertising isn't allowed, however discussing products in an informative way is not discouraged :)
The user range was on display at this years London hifi show and by all accounts recieved some favourable comments, also a good bargin was had on the sunday, when they slashed the prices to 'Get them out of the door now!" brackets, good to see you here Paul. cheers Wm

I think you are probably right there P, the English does seem to be that of a pigeon fancier.

I like Usher, from what I heard at the Heathrow show, they truly do represent a bargain. My only concern would be the consistency of the drive units, these being in house copies of Western models (as of course are the speakers themselves)

The doubt is that the pair you hear at a dem will sound the same as the ones that you buy, and that puts me off a little. I think Usher needs to have some UK stock which can be purchased on a 30 day trial arrangement. If that were available, I know I would be interested in trialling some of the higher end models.

when you see these things in the flesh, it must scare the crap out of the likes of Sonus Faber, Proac, and Audio Physic

    Quality

I think the quality is very high.I have sold some models of 730 and the new one I got was the same sound as it's the same between 730 and 737,using the same tweeter ad midwoofer.
I think there is no any repetitive problem quality between the production line.

They say that only the cone is the same because the producer is the same that Scan uses.
In Usa the tweeter was tested versus Scan and Dynaudio with fine results.

Well, I'm pleased that Merlin pointed out that they are not scanspeak drivers as I think they are almost 'passing off'. Merlin is also quite right - a drive unit is a tricky thing to quality control, and it was just starting to look at the end of the 20th century that we were achieving it.

But what with the car hifi wannabe makers and Asia building lookalikes we are going backwards:

    looks familiar?

OK it might just be the same factory..but

    By diyAudio.com:
I've visited a number of sites which talked about the Usher 9950 tweeter. Word is that they are at least as good, if not better, than the ScanSpeak.
The Usher Tweet/Revolator Woofer combo was IMO quite nice too. Not close to the Orions but one of the better speakers of the day and arguably the best in its size range. I prefered it to the tall skinny MTM that went just before it.
...also the axon 6s3 and the usher audio technology 7" might be a winner...
They have also some samples of Usher drivers (look at Euphase.com or usheraudio.com) which are not in the list. The 8945W is a Scan-Speak 8545 look-alike (17 cm, carbon paper, oversized magnet), but the motor construction is different and probably better (just look at their distortion measurements!).
I once tried the Excels but I couldn't cope with those nasty cone breakups. IMHO especially in US the Usher delivers!
They are supposed to be outstanding, some ears like the sound of the 9950 more than the scan-speak 9500

Time to exhume an old thread methinks!

Does anyone know if Usher have sorted the alleged QC problems with regards to driver consistency yet? Do the latest X & 6 series models still use copies of scanspeak drivers? Would like to know. Quite tempted by the X-719/718 myself.

Probably best to start a new thread in the General Discussion section I'd have thought?

I think paulberry as a commercial trader should post his advert in the trade section. I have read in hifichoice forum his posts and the reaction from other hifichoice memebers:

    Draw your own conclusion.

Guys, if you want to discuss Usher speakers please start a new thread in the HiFi forum. I'll close this 2 year old advert.
