    according to this:

    http://www.arcdb.ws/LS2/LS2.html

    its a 6922.

I'd try CVC or watford valves personally. I like them because they both test their valves prior to shipment. Most places dont.

here is the stock at watford:

6922 PHILIPS JAN MILITARY GRADE £8.00

Oooh the 6922 minefield :D I've just spent a bit of time (and larger bit of money) on changing the 6922s in my Audions and also in my AL dac.

I found different flavours do make a difference. Some interesting reading here.

I got mine off audiogon/ ebay and I'm pretty happy with the results I must say.

Nos Amperex or Siemens seem to be flavour of the month (and consequently expensive) although there's plenty about. There's also Telefunkens which some swear by.

Can't help as to how one knows when they go wobbly but these small signal tubes seem to have a life of 10,000 hours or more I think. Which is quite a few CDs!

I've got a spare couple if you'd like to try a different one to see what difference it makes. The Amperex I ended up with sound a world away from the Jan Philips 6922 (which I do have a pair of)
