    Hi Chris,

check out ebay.de and audio-markt.de, you should find what you are looking for without too much trouble. I could help you with haggling, buying and transport if required.

    wow, thanks Markus.

Must admit its the shipping costs and voltage conversion costs that make me look to the home market first.

You never know though, if I find one cheap enough, it could still be worth it!.

Thanks for the offer of help, I'll definately take you up on it if I buy from Germany.

    Cheers,
    Chris

There is no need for voltage conversion. And you'll probably find that shipping costs from Germany work out cheaper than shipping inside the UK. At a pinch, I could transport the thing when I come to the UK the next time (now likely to be in June) even though I really would prefer to fly.

    Is Germany 240v then?

If so, that does put a different complexion on things..

It's 230V; you weren't really thinking that American manufacturers will make different versions for the UK and the continent, were you?

well, I had checked and it uses a switch mode power supply, so any voltage conversion would just be a case of a wiring snip.

I suppose they may have 110/230/240v wiring options, or maybe just 110/230.

There is a DD18 on audiomarkt at a really good price, but its still out of budget unfortunately :(

    Probably complete overkill anyway..

230 or 240 makes precisely f'all difference with a switch mode psu.

A DD 18 makes sense only in a really large room. IIRC you have a normal room. If I were you, I'd start with a DD12, see if like its effect and how well it integrates with your main speakers, and possibly get a second DD12 (much) later on. By all accounts, two 12" subs will work a lot better than one 18" sub, and you can distribute the expense over time a bit.

Probably sound advice..... I just have to conquer my all pervading urge to get the biggest thing possible :D

room is 17 feet by 10 feet, growing to 17 feet by 13 feet at one end, so fairly normal size really.

    Hi Onthefly!

    Thanks for the headsup.

I would be hoping to get a DD15 for that kind of money on the used market. Thanks for showing me though.

    All the best
    Cheers
    Chris.

    Cheers Neil! I'm really excited.

It was hearing your own Sub that showed me what top quality subs can do.

    Can't wait :)
