That's a bloody good idea Neil.

I've tried them. They are flat little ribbons so sit flat on the front baffle. I can see them extending the response if I measure the speakers and I can just hear when they are in operation but frankly they don't make the speaker any more enjoyable to listen to. Put it another way, I can't hear anything missing without them so probably not worth the effort.
