Far too much U2 in there, and I am very surprised Blue Monday is 52 when LWTUA is about 350 or somthing. I think many of the artists featured in the top 100 have much better songs.

I guess a lot good songs are very unsuitable though and of course anybody who can listen to a medium wave radio station must be tune deaf anyway.

    Hi,

Not really. It represents well what the station is all about. Rock. Nothing too heavy & many guitar based. A lot of easy on the ear & radio friendly stuff.

It is hardly surprising about U2. They have been a big band on the world market for over 20 years. A lot of the songs in the top 100 have that 'classic' feel to them. Alot of them will pop up in many best of polls & lists.

The station is on FM in London. A big chunk of the population can pick it up. It is also on DAB nationwide as well as cable/satalite nationwide. The music suits it audience.

Some songs still surpise me though.

    67. Torn , by Natalie Imbruglia (shredded or melted would be more appropriate imho)

    but

35 November Rain by Guns 'n' Roses. I'm not a big fan - like many I've only got Appetite for Destruction - but I've never (knowingly) heard this song. Is it a classic or is this an internet vote driven blip ?

Big over the top video. Was very big at the time.

The videos of a wedding gone wrong IIRC.

The best bit was when Slash walks into the desert and bursts into a solo! Classic!

After you remove everything that was done after 1973, their list is OK (IMHO) :D
