Firstly a big thanks goes to Wm for picking me up from the train station, letting me listen to his HIFI and for his hospitality.

The first thing I realised when I got into his room was that it was totally set out for the Hifi. My jaw dropped at first then a big smile came onto my face, Wm’s system is good different to anything else I have heard. The separation of instruments was better than I had heard before. I closed my eyes, it sounded like I was there with excellent dynamics, and I thought the sound stage was excellent as well. To put it another way the system sounded real with Indie, Jazz etc and Classical. The other comment to make is absence of the hard edge that you get on cd’s.

Wm’s system is not off the shelf, all of the system has been modded, so going out and buying this system would not get you the same sound, that’s if you can find the speakers.

While I was there Wm cleaned my cd’s and give them the pen trick, with a black pen, this did work and playing the cd’s on my system the sound was improved.

If anyone else has the chance to listen to Wm’s system I recommend that they make the effort, as it will be well worth it.

Good stuff Gazz, glad you liked WM's efforts.

I'm hoping to get down there later this week to cast an ear over the latest developments.

Tony is one person for whom his hifi is his life. He has put everything into it. Look at him - it's clear he can hardly afford to eat.

I take my hat off to the guy. Singleminded and adventurous to the last.

My point is penance, that MW who we all love (I have visted also BTW) put some paint on Gazz's CDs then he took them home and detected a difference.

Being a bit of a HIFI buff do your require me to spell this out for you?

Martinc Wm was going to put the Ospreys in today and move the Shearwaters to work. I noticed he now has the Wadia 850 for sale?

Merlin it will be worth the effort. Maybe Wm's sound isn't for everyone its certainly one i enjoyed.

Yeah, well you've heard how crap it sounds so you can understand him wanting to sell it ;). It's proof there's no hope for any of us though. I mean he has the system you heard and yet still feels the need to replace the speakers and the CD player!!!

I like to say a big thanks to Gazz for taking time out and making the trip to near carrot crunching land, good to meet up, have a chat & play some vibes.
The pen this time though isn't the green stoplight version, the new 'Voodoo' (thanks Garyi) is somewhat different, and yep its better too (thats a poor misguided sad lonely staving type guy comment I'll hope you'll all take tounge in cheek)
Merlin tis true, haven't eaten since last Saturday nite, when I hocked my last pair thrupney bits to pay for that meal you saw me eat)
    anyway cheers Gazz. Wm

I 2nd the chez Tone experience - its totally ****ed up my demoing sessions as I cant find anything I like in my price range after hearing the thwacktastis Wad/BelC/Meadowlark/fairy dust system (OK Iforgot the name of the mains cleaning thingumyjig.

I'm betting that the Ospreys wont last long (too big?) and maybe he will venture into Wilson/Avalon territory? Whatever it is, the original solder wont last long:)

Of the system I had when I first heard tone's (wadia 8/15 as it was then), nothing remains in my possession.

And don't mention the W word near tone. (not Wadia)
