    hi

i bought a pair of Vitavox S2 drivers. I would like to know, how do you use them, crossover points, and what are your impressions, comparisons it to other drivers ? I have compared it yesterday to my Radian 950pb, and , the differences are smaller, than expected.

    hello Gordan

i read somewhere recently, the S5's are similar sounding , or even better, than S2's. Might someone has more informations about these ?

i have paid 1250,00 pound's for them. they have some scratches outside, nothing , that a new painting will not resolve.

very interesting basshorn. 2x 12" configuration, looks like a LAB horn ? Do you know the cut off frequency, and the size of this horn ?

Hi Angelo - yes they are lab subs. They sound great.

They made me want big horn loaded snail-shell subs like these for a long while, who's kidding?? I still do. I just don't have space for massive PA style subs... and looking at british houses, unless I win the lottery I probably never will!!

Works alright for me. I clicked through "Altec 288 horn driver speaker" as a for instance and it opened up this page:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300236123008

with the item on it. If I open ebay.com (not ebay.co.uk) and do a search, the same item comes up.

    Full explanation here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Gateway_Interface

Quick explanation is that the link you click on is executing a search of ebay to find the listed post. Nothing to worry about, all perfectly normal - just a better way of linking to the item in question.

the first versions are finished. i'm awaiting a test in my system so we know if there's more work needed or not.

meanwhile i have F3, highly recommended. possibly a fantastic choice for mid bass and treble channels in active multiway.

    hello Gordan

i already received the hint about F3.Someone i know in Berlin, has a multiway Goto Hornsystem, and recommended me the FirstWatt F3.
Have you bought them ready, or do you have someone to assemble the kit toghether for you ? What preamp will you use with them ?

I will go probably for multi amplification, too, so specially a comparison between the SET and F3 would be very interesting. Let me know, which one you prefere.

    Hi Angelo!

What are using above the S2?

I am looking for a tweeter to use above a mid-horn. There are a few 2405's around, but am wondering about a change to ye olde faithful, without spending fortunes, of course.

hello ( what is your name btw )

i have had the 2405 here, but it sounded too sharp to me. I know there are ways to attenuate this through the crossover, but i have never tried it out. I use a Coral H104, which is in my opinion far above the 2405, and is similar built as Goto's, and Onken OS5000. It sounds sweet, has exeptional dispertion, 110db/wm sensitivity, and is offered from time to time at ebay. It goes for about us$600,00 , to us$ 700,00. According to Kenneth Dweller from denmark, which seems to have bought all the old stock of Coral, and has sold very frequently Coral stuff through ebay, the H104 beats the whole Fostex line. It is not a ring radiator, but has a small 18mm aluminium dome. According to Victor Sierra : The Coral H-104 tweets is just plain, the best I've heard. Puts to shame all my Jbls, Tads, etc. Maybe it could be close to the Ale stuff. I don't know. But it's good stuff.

More you can read at my forum

Another alternative would be the Raal 140-15 tweeter. Jonathan Weiss from Oswalds Mill has the Coral, and also the Raal. According to him, the Raal sounds better. Since it has only 95db/wm, you would need to attenuate the mid and bass channel, or go active with multi amplification. According to Aleksandar from Raal, this Ribbon sounds simlar as the Waterdrop tweeter, with the only setback of lower sensitivity. To have a good dispertion, wich in the treble is essential in my opinion, you would need the foam plug, which reduces sensitivity more a littlebit. If i am not wrong, retail is Euro 490,00 per unit.
