Looks like you need to move house down to God's Country Andy. They can still exert their influence on you in Bristol :D

Then again, the Scilly Isles are part of the UK, are they not?

TB i did say practically as far as you can get, the Scilly Isles are not practical, and no bugger would want to live in Cornwall or wherever, and stop starting scotland at the borders, they're a breed apart, sit on the fence too much, get a bit closer to Gasgow or Edinburgh (ie civilisation) and then your sus don't add up. :)

Ju sadly you are correct, it makes me cringe when I see(on TV usually) an anglecised, scottish accent on TV trying to sound like a "hardman", I remember on a training course for a Drug company, they had brought along, as a speaker, a head purchasing Pharmacist from one of the biggest hospitals in UK, he was telling us about the stresses etc of running such a big budget, and was using his Glaswegianess, to stereotypical effect, and off course the rest of the audience kept looking at me very time he made one of these remarks. At one point i answered back in broad "Gleswegian" Rightonbigman", funny but he never mentioned his "scottishness" again, Personally Ju I think we'ed be best as partners, sharing the practical things, but being able to set our own taxes, spending, interest rates etc One of the reasons Scotts think they don't like the English is Interest rates, our housing is at a reasonably sensible price, compared to the south, however due to the housing market in the south being frighteningly silly, we along with Wales and parts of northern England are being puinished with higher interest rates, this is not fair, we want a fair system, we want to make our own mistakes, who knows we may be eligble, both of us for some tasty EU grants like the Greeks and the Spaniards, god if Eire can do it why not Scotland?

The Channel Islands are not in the EU, so I don't see that they can be part of the UK.

"We" have started very well with the Scottish Parliament. As the Glasgow Herald said today: "The lack of talent shines through". To say nothing of the cost of the building which they are all housed in.

The chances of putting custard on the savoury end by mistake must be very high for the average yokel. A horrible thought.

The disappearance of Wales is yet another demonstration of the astonishing incompetence of the EEC. However, it does give me a good idea of a song for the Engerland supporters to sing on Saturday.

So, to the tune of 'Men of Harlech' (or "You're not singing anymore" as it's better known) ...

    Where are Wales?

It'll soon surface again, to the cries of "THAR SHE BLOOOOOWWWS!!", so no point in harpoon on or blubbering about it. :duck:

Honestly, people really are making a mountain out of a molehill. It was just a graphic designer cockup FFS. Could have happened to anyone, anywhere  .

Tones - if you can find me a "groan" smiley I'll upload it :)
