Not for the moment, they are wonderfully musical, but same story bass in my room just isnt there,no real weight or extention

even after a very quick listen at merlins at low level they just had
that weight behind them I was pretty confident they'd be o.k.

have heard the 3.8's in my room but only at low level for a hour or so could'nt give a fair assesment either way

Oopps ........still I,m fairly philosophical...... and shit happens

be suggested i try sub's, but ~I have no experiance at all in this area and to be frank my wife hates the coffin sized speakers I,ve been using let alone subs....Even I,ll concede are just hidious things to look at

gonna a a serious look at TACT room correction now......

been chatting to a guy in the know regarding Tact there is a combined pre/dac& correction unit that sounds interesting

got to be worth a look, even if it only confirms the bass suck out in my room.

At this rate, prob be more cost effective too move

    :D

To be fair, Ive been there and done that!

Tact will only help with a subwoofer or two and you may lose somethings that you value in the process. Because you will have no time smear in the bass, it will sound like you actually have less, even though your trousers will be flapping. Also remember that the RCS2.2X is not really any good for boosting any frequencies, it is best at taming peaks.

The only solution I have found for rooms with bass nodes is big drivers in dedicated subs. What are the dimensions of your room YaBoo?

You are going to have a very nasty double node at least! What's the ceiling height?

Doing some rough calculations, you have the same problem I did, basically an acoustically crap room.

You are likely to be experiencing major nodes centred around 75hz, then 150hz, 300hz etc. It's the first two that will screw the bass and whilst careful positioning will help (basically keep the drive unit centres distance to boundaries to multiples of 16.5 inches) you are going to need some very big drive units to effectively "overpower" the room:(

Subs will almost certainly be the only way to do it, given your other half's dislike of huge boxes. At least they can be "camoflaged"!
