    Hello

My system is a Dansette record player as I hae 5 children and we only play records at home and unfortunaly we have to play CD's in the car (sporn of the devil)

my system changes I have an SPJ laluce and lyla arm with a Van Den Hul Colibri XM (this is being rebuilt as one of my lovlies took the canterlever off). A pair of SPJ prototype speakers. I don't have an amp at the moment. last amps were a pair of Gryphon refernce 1 mono's. I use DH labs cables and The last CD player I had was a gamut.

    Cheers

    Paul

Just want to introduce myself and say hello to all ZG'ers. Have already read quite a few of the threads here as a guest and thought it was about time I signed-up. I already recognise more than a few of the user names from my ususal haunt.

Main interest is hi-fi, but also have more than a passing interest in video sources as well. Kit is :- ESound E5 Signature, Arcam Alpha 9 Integrated, 2 x Arcam Alpha 9P's, Monitor Audio GR60's, Panasonic 42PX60, Panasonic DVD97, Sky HD. No 5.1 - strictly a two channel fan here.

I'm currently having a lot of fun experimenting with various DIY attempts at making my own tri-wire speaker cable and also experimenting with DIY mains cables - current flavours are constructed from Lapp CY110, Belden 83802 and Kimber PK14 (I didn't make the Kimber cable tho!), Russ Andrews 'reference' style plugs, wattgates and MK tough plugs. Iyt's turning out to be quite expensive but definitely fun!!

Pleased to meet you all and pleased to be here.

    hello, gav here

been out of the scene for over a decade now. i've sold mid- level and high end gear in previous incarnations, also worked for malcolm blockley of NAD fame before leaving home.

more recently i've imported jap cars, driven hgv's, been part of a commune, a rave/festival organiser (exodus) and dj, as well as producing some dance music for the vibe agency.
along the way i've survived by the trade of my forefathers...groundworking and labouring.
i've just bought a smallholding in the scottish borders where music creation, power generation, self sufficiency and mountain rescue are the plans.

musically i love bass and all things roots, all things dance, rolling breakbeats, house, drum and bass and reggie. big on dub, ambient dub, plus usual suspects jb's, curtis mayfield floyd hawkwind orbital underworld etc

    current system: (overhauling soon)

    cranfield rock, excalibur, reson reca

    audio research sp14

    krell ksa100 mk2

    alon iv mk2

    alon speaker cable

and, under design, an infinite baffle system comprising (currently)
    2 x 18 inch drivers per manifold
    2 manifolds, ceiling mounted

big repect to tenson here for showing me the light
(see "can i turn my house into a horn" thread in hi-fi)

many thanks for some good advice and robust debate
feels like i've found my "home"

no neighbours plus big bass and big soundstage= big smiles

    Hello

    Hello ZG

My name is Martin. Some of you may have encountered me before (I have been known to post the occasional pointless raqmble on PFM, where I go under the same moniker I am using here).
I recently moved from Aberdeenshire to Northumberland and am still in the process of setting my system up again.

When it comes to hifi, I don't know much but I know what I like. The only problem is that this seems to change on a weekly basis!

    My current setup:

    LP12/cirkus/ekos/troika/lingo.
    linto
    Karik 3/numerik
    kairn
    LK280
Isobariks (heavily modified by RATA - tonigen ribbons, kimber cable, reworked crossovers etc) on custom built torlyte stands.
Best speakers I have owned (significantly better than the standard briks they replaced), but very ugly. If only they could look a little more like the Ruarks I used to have. Now they were a fine looking pair of speakers......

In addition, I have about 8000 LPs and 2500 CDs. I love music of all types. Everything from Metallica to Mahler, taking in Miles Davis, The Pixies and Richard Thompson on the way.

Things are definitely getting out of hand, so my next post here will be a list of CDs for sale (I need the space...).

Looking forward to meeting you all in the forums.

    Regards

    Martin

    Hi everybody,
I've decided to come back to stereo after a few years in the multi-channel wilderness. I've given up on multi-channel basically because i can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I got to use it to full its potential. Plus I have a wife & two teenage daughters & 'Pretty woman' & 'Dirty dancing' even in glorious dolby digital starts to wear thin quite soon.
So i've taken my Ruark Icons out of storage, bought a cambridge Azur cd player & amp & repositioned the 'comfy chair'.
o.k. not top drawer gear but I have bought a euro lottery ticket.
So hi everyone & i hope to soon be benefitting from all your experience & advice.

    jeff

    Harry here

Hi folks, I've lurked here a while so thought it time to say hello.

I have worked in audio (Beeb TV Outside Broadcasts) for over 23 years now -doesn't feel a day over 22!- and honestly, we do care about what we put out, even when the phrase 'Turd Polishing' is rather appropriate...

I come from a musical family, Dad was and Big Bruv is violin makers to a world class standard (eat yer heart out Sonus Faber) and I had a while as a pro. violinist, so at least I should know what the bloody kit SHOULD sound like.

I also got a Masters degree in Physics and am a member of the Audio Engineering Society so if I can't blind you with science then maybe I could stun you with bullshit. In the niceset possible way, of course...

    So, current toys are
    LP12/Cirkus/Lingo1/Ekos1/ESCo Troika/Prefix
    CD3.5 / Flatcap
    Nakamichi DR3
    Sony DAT60ES
    Denon TU260L
Panasonic DVD/VHS Nicam (Model no. like a bad hand at scrabble, at least I can listen to what me & my chums have been up to).
PowerBook G4 (Awesome if twiddled correctly via Chord Cobra 3)
    60G iPod

Naim 62/HiCap/250 (all chrome bumper & tweaked a bit)

Epos ES14's (tweaked) REL Stadium (both walnut) NAC A5, in front room
Rogers LS3/5a's in dining room via A4

Shitloads of records & almost too many CD's of many flavours.

Second system under construction for loft conversion to include a pair of immaculate ex-studio Leak TL25's.

    So, hello folks.

    Cheers, Harry Saunders.
