That's the most important bit. No one's opinion matters as much.

    Hi

Hi, I'm a new member who joined today.

I have an old Pioneer Hi-Fi system which was excellent while it worked - up to a few weeks ago. The components are:

XD-Z53T Stereo Twin CD Cassette Deck Amplifier
    F-Z93L FM/AM Digital Synthesiser Tuner
    PL-Z93 Stereo Turntable

My somewhat eclectic taste in music includes Beethoven, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, military marches and some religious music (from various religions). Recently I have become interested in progressive and alternative metal music by Tool and Opeth.

    Cheers, Mary.

    Hello.

Dunno if i've already posted on here...i didnt realise i had an account!

Anyway if this is my first post! Hello.

    System:

Speakers: Exclusive TAD 2402 + Merlin VSM MXE

Pre: Wavac PRT1 or Leben RS-28CX

    Power: Searching for one....

Digital Source: will hopefully be a wireless NAS drive feeding a Squeezebox and then a top DAC...all audio files thus being ripped using EAC on extreme quality settings, often providing a higher quality original than what your cd player can read.

Analogue Source: EMT 950 recently fully restored by StudioTechnik.

I import rare japanese highend as a hobby...i've had almost all of the top direct drive turntables.

Currently working on realising the potential of the TAD studio monitors in a domestic setup...and the possible integration of the ET-703 tweeter.

    morning from across the pond!

i do belong to a couple of forums here in the u.s. but since i seem to love the "british" sound i thought i better joing a good forum in the u.k.

it started with a set of b&w dm5's which i loved and i wish i still had them, heck, i am still trying to find a pair now! after a couple of years i a set of rogers ls3/5a's, set of satterburg subs, twin apt holman amps and apt preamp along with a rega planar 3..i loved it...

anyway, that was many years ago and now after going through various speakers such as ar9's and maggies and polks i am back to british speakers..set of mission 70's that i just picked up for $5 which sound tremendous, wharfedale xp2's, castle warwich 2-ways which also sound tremendous and a set of wharfedale em95's which i am trading back to the hifi shop as they just dont sound good in my living room..

anyway, just a bit about my history and i will be asking questions in the other forums...

    thanks!

Hi, not sure if I'm eligible for a hi-fi forum.

I'm a mainly classical and soundtrack fan, and just reassembled my 1991 Linn Basik with Akito arm, Arcam Alpha and Linn Index speakers, and have had a new Adikt cartridge put on the Basik/Akito.

The catalyst for doing this was that I recently ripped all my CDs to iPod and was amazed to see just how much music was "missing" – masses of repertoire that I never bought on CD because I knew I had it on vinyl. But my LPs have been in storage for years (partly space, partly because a damp problem left most of them musty).

Now I'm dithering between reintroducing the LPs into my life for their own sake, or just to digitise them. And I've joined the forum to get advice on vinyl cleaning/maintainance.

    Cheers

Whest Audio PS.20 Phono stage & Power supply.
    Musical Fidelity A3.5 CD
Alchemist Audio Forseti APD21A Mk II Pre and Alchemist Audio Forseti Tim de Paravicini Signature Power amp.
2 x PrimaLuna ProLogue Six Monoblock valve power amps.
    ATC SCM 40 speakers.
    Grado RS1 H/phones & RA1 9v battery H/phone amp.
Van den Hul & Origin Live interconnects, Chord Odyssey 2 speaker cable.
2 x Townshend Audio Seismic sinks.

I've whacked an image on the "My Kit" thread, so apologies for the sort of double post.

Never noticed this thread before, been here for a year and a half but still consider myself a newcomer, both to these forums and to hi-fi in general

I've always been into it, but have never had my own toys until a couple years ago, but I'm 24, so theres plenty of time to make up for it ;)

    Main System:
    Pathos ClassicOne mk2
Proac Response 1SC, sitting atop Target MR60s
Marantz CD63 KI - reasonable heavily modified
DH labs BL1 interconnect and T14 cable + some home brew mains cables

Its finally getting a decent room in a few weeks after a house move, its been stuffed in a corner for the last year, so a new CD player may be on the way

Study - never really considered this a Hi-Fi, but I'm awfully impressed with the sound for the cost, certainly a lot better than I thought a PC could be...

    Tannoy Reveal Active monitors
E-Mu 1212m sound card, home brew blanced ICs - Connectronics star-quad, neutrik connectors
Foobar2000 with ASIO output + 200GB of FLAC

    Another new guy.

    Hi,

    1st post on the forum.

    Current kit:
    • Nain CDX2
    • XPS2
    • Dave Berning ZH Amp
    • Sonus Faber Cremona Adiutor speakers

Prior to the Berning amp I had a Naim 282/HiCap/200 - now going through a mid life hi-fi crisis :D I'm auditioning a pair of Kudos C20's and ART Emotion Signatures with my current set up and tube roling!

I'm even considering ditching the CDP for a Mac/Benchmark DAC1 combo.

    All the best,

    Monty

    Yet Another Noob

    Hi All,
A frequent lurker, god knows why I never signed up earlier.

    My Kit;

    Teac T1 cd transport
    Benchmark DAC1(as preamp/dac)
MC2 Audio T1000 power amp on HF
    MC2 Audio MC1250 power amp on bass/mid
    Tannoy System 215's
System runs fully balanced, passive biamped
All interconnect wiring by VanDamme silver plated upofc,
Speakers cable is NVA LS2 solid core.
IME the MC2's are Chord and Bryston beaters by quite a wide margin and have the grip and power that is essential for the 215's.
    Cheers
    Frank

    Another n00b...

Hi, guys. Just a quick hello. I stumbled across this place because I was looking for information on various hi-fi bits and pieces. Anyways, my kit:

    Arcam Alpha 8R
    Arcam Alpha 9P (x2)
    NAD C541i
    ProAc Studio 200
Straightwire Chorus (between CD and amp)
Home-brewed IC's (between amp and powers)
Home-brewed speaker cables (CAT-6 ethernet cable)

I joined because I want to get into modding and this looks like the best place to start!!!
