As some of you will know I bought a Net Audio Miniclock II and PSU, but what with one thing and another I've only just fitted the beast.
The fitting passed off quite easily and the forseen problems didn't appear. The thing work first time, and all that I needed to do was remove the protection resistor.

A number of inmates heard the Denon and MF X-DAC at Bottleneck's bake off, and I think I can say it didn't sound half bad.

So what does it sound like now ? The cd player now sounds significantly better than the X-DAC combo.

The level of performance is nothing short of unbelivable, this is straight out the box, no burnin no nothing, even the wires are not routed yet. The damn thing is sounding better than my £1k player.

The differences start with the leading edges of the note these are so sharply etched in to the sound picture. I've got huge dynamics, expanded soundstaging, the articulation of vocals and prat coming out my ears!

So am I pleased ...you bet its Big Hugs to Net Audio and several gold stars on top. Was it worth £80 quid ? probabley worth three or four times that.

Its no good I'm going to have to do the Quad77

I just cheked the DIY threads and noticed you still hadn't mentioned anything about fitting it. Sounds like a result! Is something like this likely to improve much MOre with burning in? Could get even better :D

    Who knows !

I've given it about five hours on repeat play using the XLO burnin disc. So later today I have another good listen.

Incidentally whilst this was going on, I took the opertunity to replacethe L'Argent RCA plugs with Bullets ..........so why have I not done this before ? I have to say that they are as good as the hype make out. They are not as tight as I expected, dead easy to fit though I'm an old hand at soldering, and have all the gear. I made up a little heat sink on the back of an old RCA socket using a coil of copper wire attached to the ground and signal pin. So there was no excess heat build up. Again I can thourghly recommend this just wish I'd done it sooner !

So Pete, is that the Zanash (Mr DIY) seal of approval for bullets then :D .
Now how about building some decent Op-amps to go in the CDP of yours? that'll really help open out the sound and add to the dynamics, while your in there maybe uprate a few decoupling caps as well :) now you've got the bug. WM

Tone - do you know if the older style Rega Planet can be clocked??? There's not much room in the case but I'm seriously tempted to get it done...

    Nice one btw Zanash

WM ... I'd already done all that !

I've probably change adapted or swapped about 30% of the passive components in the beast.

OpAmps are now BB opa2604's enticed into class a with a 27k res on the outputs [I keep meaning to the FET constant current mod].

As for the Bullets, well just pass me another banana and the lub.

Should have gone for it a long while ago.

I've now to change all my connectors...bugger.
