Yes, folks! It's finally happening! The bear is hosting a bake-off!

Venue is technobear towers on the ancient Isle of Avalon in picturesque Central Somerset.

Please bring as few automobiles as possible as there is not a huge amount of parking in the close.

    Date: Saturday Feb 4th
    Start time: 8 am
    End time: whenever

Accommodation is limited but can probably cope with 8. More than that might be a bit too cosy.

I guess that's enough info to be going on.

Is there any nice fast service from London? It is clearly a long way but if there was a good service it may not be so bad. Bit of a long shot I guess.

We are a little in the middle of nowhere for trains. The nearest station is Castle Cary which is about 20 minutes by car. Trains from Paddington take from 1:30 to 1:50 hrs.

There are buses to Yeovil (1:02), Taunton (0:50), Bristol (1:05) and Bath (to Wells 1:17). All of those places are just over 20-25 miles away so a bit of a trek even by car.

I do have a spare bed (air mattress) so I can put up two overnight if that helps. Space can be found for a further air mattress if somebody brings one.

A pre-amp? Hmmm. There are no ins and outs on the ATC so I'm not sure what we could do with a pre-amp. Unless someone else brings a power amp :D

If people want to bring a small amount of kit that's cool but I would like to spend most of the time listening to music rather than faffing with kit.

Having said that, I would be interested to hear a Meridian 507 or G07/08. I'd be interested to compare the 192 to a CD36 also.

I don't have a turntable and the ATC doesn't have a phono board so I guess we won't be listening to any vinyl unless someone wants to bring a TT and phono amp.

I'd like to come along; 4th Feb is better for me.

I'm in central Bath BTW, so if it's easier for those coming down by train to get to Bath Spa I'll happily act as taxi for the rest of the journey.

I think I will have to say no for now. Getting the train to London then again from Paddington to Castle Cary then bus to Bath and a lift from the kind Felix seems a bit too much work for me.

I may change my mind nearer the time if there is a free space but for now someone else can take it.

Tenson - that is a bit roundabout! Bath is 3 or four stops down the main line from Paddington.

Quite! The train to Bath Spa takes 1:25 to 1:30 hrs. There are more to choose from too - every half hour I believe.

Oh okay, I was just going on what I understood from your post. It seems easy enough to get to Bath Spa then. 8am is a bit early though, the very first train gets to Bath at 8am. What time were you thinking of going Felix?

Whenever suits really - suppose we left here 10-10.30ish, would that be reasonable? I'm 10mins from the station, Glasto is a 40min drive.

I'll PM you my contact details, let me know what suits you nearer the time.

Yeah that sounds much more suitable, I am not a morning person! Count me in then Chris :)

Felix I will confirm things with you nearer the time as you say. Thanks

Anything people would like me to bring? It would be cool to pitch the AML1’s against the Dynaudio’s but I am not carrying those on the train lmao!

Could I register interest for the 4th as well?
Just a little vague at present (anyone else with a baby under 6 months will understand) but it's certainly do-able.

    Thanks, Robert
