    Hi there
I have a Thorens td160 with a Rega RB300 arm, running into an ancient highly modified Pioneer A6 amp that I love. I was really happy with my Dynavector 10X5 until it died. Shall I get another,or is there a cartridge that I should know about? The bass on the 10x5 was about right, in case that helps.

    Cheers

    Blake.

The Denon DL110 will run the 10X very close indeed for only £70 and works perfectly in the RB300.

Is the dl110 one up from the 103? What's the difference?

    Cheers,

    Nic.

    Hi Nic,

On the contrary there are those out there who may perceive the DL110 to be one ore two down from the 103. I dunno about that not having heard a 103 but I can confirm what others have said the DL110 is superb and it's available for £59..what a steal!

The very important difference is that the 103 is a low output MC whereas the DL110 is high output and will work straight into a MM input.

    Cheers for now...Dave

    Dave,

Thanks for that. The thread got me thinking and I had a look at the Denon website. The reason I asked is I have a 103 on the end of my LV11 which I think is quite amazing (especially given the money).:) It won't last forever, though, so I was wondering what to eventually replace it with. What do you (or others) know about the DL 304 which seems to be top of the range - but still ridiculously cheap. Maybe that's what I should think of next.

    Cheers,

    Nic.

This might be a bit over budget, but I find that the Grado REF Sonata works really well in my Michell Technoarma a (a modded Rega RB250).

The 304 is a lovely cart, but very low output. If your phono stage can cope, it's a very good budget option.

I'm using a high output mc Denon DL-160 on my RB300 and am very happy with it! Dunno how it compares to the 110 but I would expect pretty similar, though it's about 20 squids more.
