I can't have been the only person impressed with this movie.

I thought it was great. There were some aspects I didn't like though. The reavers were a stupid enemy - insane bloodthirsty savages that have an uncanny ability to navigate space (piece of piss really?) and do all the necessary repairs and complicated technical stuff too etc. Far less civilised than their Klingon cousins!!

But overall, it was a good film. The black guy was very good. If a little Blade-lite with his sword. A poor man's Snipes in that regard! Glad I saw it at the cinema, rather than on dvd.

Ordered the Firefly tv series, to get a sense of the bigger picture.

Was a good laugh actually and having now seen firefly as a result of the film i can say that the series is even better in some ways and a great shame it was cancelled (by Fox - who have a habit of cancelling good shows). Oh yeh and the girl (Christina Hendricks) who plays Saffron (or Yo-Saf-Bridg if you prefer) in 2 of the episodes is very easy on the eye. :)

I went through the Firefly series - bargain at £15.99 in a sale - and dragged a mate to go and see Serenity.

One of the best films I've seen recently and does a good job of not insulting fans of the series - me, but still written well enough so that people who haven't seen the series can still enjoy it - my mate.

i thought the tv show was utter rubbish. i understand the film to be better written. or maybe it's one of those "must watch half a dozen episodes before u'll get into it" shows. the first 4 (i think i watched that many) were pants.

Depends on what you want from a tv program. I loved it despite all its problems. (I actually thought the series was better overall than the film, which started well and ended a tad weakly) It is very formulaic, but then most tv programs are - its merely a question of whether you enjoy the formula or not.

Well, you were clearly watching a different show to us then! I fail to see how anybody could dislike the series. Do you not agree that it was at least pleasingly different from the rest of the sci-fi drudge on tele?

Anyway, let's get back to discussing how achingly sexy Saffron is! I am beginning to think that there really is absolutely nothing beats a good "ginga". I know 99.9999% of gingernuts are absolutely *minging*, but that .0001% that aren't, are breathtaking. Just breathtaking.

Real shame she had to go spoil herself by putting those ridiculously large implants on her chest. She'd look better without them IMHO. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0376716/photogallery

I'm thinking Saffron, Inara and Kaylee, in Inara's lair, wearing.......

Another thumbs up for this one - I enjoyed the film immensely, but probably agree it works better as a TV series. Characters have time to develop, and they have lives that aren't all to do with the main plot. But see the film anyway if you still can - it knocks spots of any other sci-fi that's been on screen this year.

    cheers

I think so - there are one or two weak episodes but generally I enjoyed it immensely - I went through the DVDs quite quickly. I agree with comments made further up - much better than most tv sci-fi.
