was quite impressed by i,robot - not the total bastardisation of azimov's books that i was expecting however the ending was a little obvious.
spiderman 2 seemed a little disjointed to me. 2 or 3 story threads that didn't really contribute and just petered out and the train fight just seemed thrown in as there hadn't been any action for a while. still above average comic book movie fare though.
    batman begins sounds interesting.
catwoman must be see just for halle berry in leather
    chronicles of riddick hmmm maybe.
the village looks poor definately a wait for the dvd to rent.
dodgeball: a true underdog story - looks quite funny - 'if you can dodge a wrench / traffic, you can dodge a ball!' - but then i thought freddy got fingered was funny too.
    cheers

Loved the first one but it did just seem to 'finish'. There wasn't much left lingering in the mind IYKWIM.

Yeah, Open Water looks like a "Blair Shark Project" :duck: .

The Watchmen movie has been in pre-production for a while with Terry Gilliam being the last 'big' director to have a bash. He however came out and stated that, given the complexity of the book, it would come in at a running time of 6 hours circa $200 Million  .

Christ knows how Aronofsky is going to edit it down to a manageable size.
The most recent screenplay is meant to be a corker

But will 'they' [the viewing public] get it ?

as long as it keeps the major themes in the book and they don't drop anything too important - i can see dr manhattan going for budgetary reasons but it'd be a crying shame - i'd love to see that palace growing out of the martian sand on film. as for the viewing public 'getting it' well obviously most americans will struggle however if there are enough 'old glories' plastered all over the place and a suitably jingoistic air then they won;t care.
the other thing i want to see is the batman vs superman battle from dark knight returns. that'd be a corker too - is anyone thinking of making that?
    cheers

Yeah, the whole Martian chapter is probably my favourite in the book :MILD: .
You're right about Dr.Manhattan being dispensable but he's such a great character that I hope it doesn't happen :( .

The Batman v's Superman project took a dive into obscurity after Warner Brothers just couldn't get their act together about the whole Superman franchise (again ! ). It is however back on track but purely as a Superman vehicle. Michael Bay (The Rock, Armageddon and, more frighteningly, Pearl Harbour) has signed up to direct.

Who lines up to wear the tights is still unanswered but my rec. would be Tom Welling that stars in Smallville (an excellent series IMO, americana aside).

Batman Begins is shaping up to be very tasty and Empire Online ran a pole about 6 monthas ago asking the public about their favourite choice for the upcoming film. I voted for Mr bale and thankfully he won :D . he may not be to everyone's taste but his turn in American Psycho would be enough for anyone to select him to play the angry, young, Year 1 Batman who has too much money.

Interestingly, Aronofsky was lined up to direct the originally planned Batman : Year One (from the Frank Miller Graphic novel). Christopher Nolan has since re-written parts/the whole thign to mould it into his vision. Interestingly he's shooting most of it in London. The cast is not bad either.

yeah christian bale is very underrated imho. american psycho was a 1st class adaption of the book - even if it did leave some of the more gruesome stuff out. it got the general sense of enuii and desperation for 'a life' that comes across in the book.
shame about dark knight returns i'd love to see that as a (good) movie.
wasn't bale tipped as brosnans replacement as james bond?
    cheers

Yup. There's talk of the role going to Eric Bana  .
    I'd go for Clive Owen.

just done a bit of a search on the watchmen film and it looks like tey are going to wimp out on the ending saying it's too disturbing and awful to do. well if they do imho they've just lost the entire point of the film. it would take something that big to change the course of human self destruction (as it does in the book) also the final frames of the guy reaching for rorschach's diary would not mean the same thing if a few poeple sprained their ankles now would it?
getting more depressed about the prospect after the initial euphoria now.
    cheers

Hellboy is very entertaining. Ron Perlman plays the lead with just enough sarcasm and wit to keep this comic book movie grounded.

It's available on Region 1 so I watched it at home before the UK cinema release. Good bonus disc package too. :D

Sgt, have you seen the original "The Kingdom" by Lars von Trier ?

I watched Kingdom Hospital and it was very entertaining (if a bit too Stephen King in places) but can't touch the original. It's scary as hell !

It's available in the UK on DVD.
