This Firday: I am going to see Hanky Park

May 23rd: (FAC511 - A tribute to Rob Gretton) This could be the best gig I ever go to in my life, The Doves, Mike Pickering, Grahame Park,Mr Scruff, A Certain Ratio amongsts others. Its also according to official sources (Hooky to be exact) New Order be attending this gig and Hooky will be playing Heart and Soul with ACR.

May 28th: I was going to The Killers but I am having an operation the day before so I have had to give the ticket away.

June 12th: Blondie, well it was a result of a drunken night out, seeing blondie seems a great idea after dancing to Atomic in a night club post 12 pints.

July - Move Festival to see Morrisey this should be good.

Ooh lets see, at the moment ...

Ash on the 26th at Rock City

Graham Coxon on the 29th at the Rescue Rooms

Morrisey + The Libertines at the RFH on the 11th June

The Ukrainians on the 13th June at the Rescue Rooms

Nancy Sinatra at the RFH on the 20th June

Leeds Festival, end of August (Coxon, Ash , Mozza and the Libs again but most importantly, the mighty White Stripes)

Amazingtrade, Bet that Blondie gig'll be good though, even if it was decided on after severe alcaholic inducement :)

Morrisey seems very popular all the of the sudden. The blondie gig should be ok I just hope their not past it.

I am a Blondie fan but some how they were better in the late 70's. I suppose because they always tour it probably won't seem special where as Morrisey will because its a rare thing.

To be honest I'm in two minds about the RFH gig - I'll see him at Leeds anyway, but the other half insists. Morrissey at the RFH maybe and Nancy most definitely, but the Libertines?? That's all wrong - all a bit polite and comfy, what you need with a band like that is cheap beer, fags and a riot.

Living in the wilds of korea (the land all the best bands fly over leaving japan on the way to singapore) my gig choice is limited. If I can swing the time off I will go to the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan as there are a few bands I would like to see: belle and sebastian, basement jaxx, white stripes, snow patrol, pj harvey and the pixies.

So fingers crossed I can get the time off .

I hadn't been to see a "proper" band for years. I used to go quite a lot when I was about 15-19. Then Glasto 2001 (I think), was last until this year. Seen Basement Jaxx (who were excellent), a little while back, who were the first band I'd seen live since. And the Beta Band last night.

Seen quite a few local bands. My brother plays locally, so tends to be a couple of other bands on the bill.

I should try and get to MOre, but don't think it's something i'd plan. MOre a spare of the MOment thing. Gomez at the end of the MOnth sounds good though!

    Love
    White Stripes
    Dropkick Murphys
    Steve Hackett
22-20's, Ordinary Boys & Cribs (NME Britpack tour)

    To come:

Kathryn Williams - not 100% sure on this yet.
Charlatans - Bristol June 6. Very tempting.
    Glastonbury
Oysterband/Chumbawumba & others at Bridgnorth folk fest.
    Saxon

plus a shedload more I've not thought about/heard of yet!

I saw Peter Gabriel last May at Wembley, I'm not going again this time only because it's basically a continuation of the Up tour and I can't justify it again, especially with Glasto coming up. He puts on a superb live show though, if you've never been before you'll be blown away. Everyone goes on about the big stage sets he uses, but bottom line is, they don't need them at all, the band are that good! You'll be able to buy a copy of the concert afterwards too as I believe this years European tour is part of the Encore! series of live releases.

V festival chelmsford, the line up is actually pretty darm good this year.

Also, the "real music festival", which to my delight is quite literally across the road from me.

    Wishlist:

Really want to see the libertines:rolleyes: but no luck as of yet.

Also maybe jesse malin and motorhead, an some d'n'b/dance for a laugh.

Hi. What's the score with the V festival?

As I understand it, two venues Chelmsford and Staffordshire. And two days. And the line up full line up plays at each venue?

    Different I suppose.

My UK geography is pants and have no idea where either of these places are. Could be either end of the country for all I know :D

Is one venue better than the other?

Is it a music only thing where only on site during the bands, or is there camping and such?

Yep, two venues, lineup plays one site one day and the other the next. They're not the only festival that does it either. The Carling festivals at Reading & Leeds do the same thing, only over three days. Both have the camping and entertainment area totally segregated, so you have to queue each day to get in. None of that bollocks at Glasto!

There's some good stuff at V this year. Me and a friend are going to the first day in Staffordshire, going to see BRMC, Strokes, Pixies, The Zutons and whatever else fits in inbetween. Should be a great day even if it rains!
