I am sure he just wants to prove his ears right, by using the extremely trustworthy opinions of the reviewers of what hifi, who of course, never take bribes, or are influenced by advertisers.

Sorry, that wasnt very helpful was it!

Does this actually go on or this a myth?

I find it quite unbeliable that WFH can say my headphones are average sounding for the £50 quid I paid for them. I've heared £100 phones that are not as good.

As for my What HIFI 5 star rated Sony tuner, it sounds like so soft its unatural.

    another opinion is always welcome.
if i bought my amp on reviews i would not have bought these as i can't find one.
hence the post what hifi 95 nov help.
i hope this has made things clearer.
    anyone with this issue.
the kit is superb, but it is nice to read a review.
with ears what might be right to me maybe awful to someone else. my friend hates my spks i hate his. they are a well respected model both sets.
in the end it's a matter of taste.
oh and by the way the amp they replaced was the highly reviewed award winnig primare a 30.1 i did not need a mag to tell me the roksan shit on this amp from a great height.
but hey that is just my opinion :)

Of course it goes on. Of course, your headphones are a matter of opinion (over at headfi, I've seen people who love and hate them with equal measures - just like all headphones), although like you say for 50 quid, they cant have too many complaints - not many good sounding cans for that price IMO.

The same goes on with cars. How else would a Ford Ka be able to win "What Car's" city car of the year for about 5 or 6 years running when theres clearly better cars out there...

Yeah true, the Ford Ka is based on the 1989 Fiesta MKIII isn't it?

I amazed its legal though if it does go on. I stopped reading the HIFI magaziners ages ago. I got sick of how their 5 star products sudenly ended up 3 star ones just because it was 6 months out of date.

I've noticed this - case in point being CD players. I think it was the September edition, when they reviewed the NAD C521BEE and gave it a five star review. In the October issue, the Cambridge Audio CD640 was reviewed and they won't stop harping on about it for months after. The NAD gets barely a mention now. A pity, as (IMHO) it's a lot of CD player for the money.

I've not bought it for years but the NAD CB521BEE was always on of their favourites, as was the Sony CDPXE330.

The classic example was my cd player the Marantz CD6000 OSE LE they gave it 5 stars saying how smooth it was etc, 6 months later they give it 3 saying it sounds harsh and bright! They also gave the Senhiesier HD495 headphones which cost £50 4 stars even though in my opinion they are one of the worst sounds phones ever made in recent times.

I think the 6000 ose held it's 5 stars a bit longer than 6 MOnths, but it did seem to drop down unfairly.

Argh well thanks for them dropping the magic stares suddenly this CD player was considered a duffer so I managed to get a brand new one for £150. It makes a perfect transport if nothing else, proper damping and sheliding, fully metal chasis and it weighs 5kg.

Thats nothing compared to the brown nosing they give to Arcam 7x cd players, garunteed product of the year and best in the market when they are released:rolleyes: having heard the cd72 myself i think my pioneer dvd player sounds more musical:D

P.S i think K.I 6000series gear that ive heard are some of the best around att heir price level.

    Ultra:D
