    Hi All,

I have £200 which I shouldn't really be spending but can't resist it!

    Mirage M1 speakers
Toshiba SD900E transport (happy with this!)
    Lexicon DC-1 Dac \ Pre-amp
    Audio Research V140 monoblocks.
Chord Odessey 4 speaker cable (* non bi-wire)
Van Den Hul The first digital interconnect
    Pure silver custom made interconnects
    Quadraspire rack.
    Einstein mains conditioner.
BCD mains cable for the conditioner.

Contact enhancer already done.... spikes on the DAC and transport already done. Valve dampners fitted to the valves + the mono amps are on very basic homemade platforms.

I'm wondering about better mains conditioning as a possibility....

Feel free to post anything you've got for sale here!

    Thanks, Tim

You should spend it on one of those 1kVA isolation trannies that are for sale in the classified section. Indeed looking at the amount of kit you have, you could even use two!

Spend it on CDs - will give you much more pleasure than any tweak ;)

"Ditch the QS and get Mana."

hmmm racks have never impressed me. Couldn't hear any difference between the QS and my last rack...

Are you sure mana would be any different?

    A record deck?
According to someone at PFM if you get get a Project Debut and stick it on a particular brand of stand it sounds as good as an LP12!!!!!
Seriously though a cheap deck to play cheap vinyl

Jokes aside, a Debut II would be a sound buy if you want to get into vinyl.

hmmm considered a record deck a while back, just doesn't seem to be easy to get hold of new records....at the price, I doubt that'd be better than my current front end... but a good idea none-the-less....

I'm actually quite happy with where my system is at the moment which is why I think tweaks may be the best bet.

Bung it in an account and wait until something you really want comes up? Boringly practical I know but there ya go..

Doesn't surprise me in the least, QS is just furniture.

"Are you sure mana would be any different?"

    Yes, I'm absolutely certain.

Give WM a shout, he seems to have impressed a few people with his box of tweaks.

I'd not spend it for the sake of spending. Spend it on something else, or save for something in particular :)

Yeah its uglier for a start. :D

Having said that does seem to make Bubs kit sound nice, but then he has thousands of pounds worth of Mana and pretty good front ends and pre amp., not what mere mortals can afford.

    Hi Devil,

Perhaps.... trouble is it's very difficult to justify spending money on another rack.... perhaps the hifi press are biased but they heard a difference between this and other racks, I didn't.... so how can I be sure that ANY rack will make an improvement.

    Hmmmmm

I would second that especially as you are in Cheltenham - ask WM to bring some bits round - you might decide to save the 200 squids for a couple of months toward some of his gear.

    Greg,

Tim's heard my set-up about 3 weeks ago's, took him a while to get his around it. A big departure from what he normally listens too.
Mind you, I've been at it since, a few more bits and pieces on dsp section :D

I think the answer goes along the lines of "but Mana isn't just "ANY" rack...."

Then it turns into an ugly mess from there....

I can't be bothered arguing with you people any more. I thought you were supposed to be interested in hi-fi, but it's just male jewellery with most of you. As long as it looks the part, you are happy.

Mana is about getting the best possible performance and sound out of your equipment. If you are not interested in that, then that's fair enough.
