The Hi-Fi Motor Quotient is an important measure of your priorities in this crazy consumer society.

HFMQ = value of hi-fi/value of car

I have an HFMQ of about 18 but that's because I drive an old banger.

    What's yours?

Well my motor got nicked two weeks ago and trashed so I currently have a HFMQ of infinity :)

However when I did have a car it was about 20 (again a right old banger for a motor and assuming we are using the price I paid at the time for the various bits of sound system).

My van however is a whole different set of wheels.

That'd be an HFVQ of 0.5

What would also be of interest of course would be peoples HiFi Music Quotient

HFMuQ = value of HiFi/number of records owned

HFVQ is about 1 in my case. Or about 0.5 if you take what I paid for things rather than retail values.

HFMuQ is about 2 or 1 by the same tokens as above. However, the music collection is ever expanding.

Hmmm... based either on what I could sell my HiFi and car for, or indeed what I paid for them, both quotients would work out at ~1. I've got to say I'm surprised by the results here so far, as I guessed from a few threads that many people would have far more expensive cars, although actually I guess the car bods haven't really contributed here yet...

HFMQ is 0.50 at the prices I paid.
At new prices it would be 0.26.

    HFMuQ...
0.6 Include my wifes collection and it's about 0.4.

That puts it into perpective. I need to spend more on music...

HFMQ = 0.66 (based around the car I drive* being worth about £1800 now, and my hifi being priced around what I paid for things)

    *Not actually my car

HF price/PC price (based around what I paid new for the PC) is about .6 too (which thinking about it more worries me because its such a waste, PC gear depreciates like a stone).
