I'm going to go to Dublin for my birthday this year in September, and I wondered if anyone could recomend places to stay. Some of my mates stayed at the Jury Inn, but there's rather a lot of them!
Top whack is £200 for a couple of nights, anyone got any recomendations?

Erm it depends on your exact budget and requirements. I stayed at the Days Inn on Tablot Street, its small but its a part of a huge chain so you get the usual decent clean standards. The good thing about Talbot street is its opposite the huge tower statue thing on O'Connel street. So when you're pissed you can find your way back easily from Temple Bar.

I think it cost about £35 a night, it was in no way posh, but it was ensuite and clean. You might want somthing with a bit more room though. Just make sure you are in walking distance to Temple Bar.

It depends how fit you are, in fact the bottom end is just about 1-2 minutes walk away. The top end is about 15-20 minutes walk away. At the most O'Conell street is 1 mile away if you're at the far end.

I was surprised how close the place I stayed was, it was 10 minutes walk about 4 MPH walking speed. When you're drunk that time becomes even faster. I have fond memories of chanting out Smith's lyics at 4:00am after the Morrissey gig in Dublin. I am not sure why we were not arrested.

Its a great city though although the beer is not cheap.

    Hi Richard,

When I went to Dublin last year, I stayed at the Morgan on Fleet St. This is in Temple bar.

Not the cheapest, around £60 upwards a night but nice and new. Nice breakfast!

Easy to get around from there. It's not too far from some record shops as well.

    A very nice city,

Spent a few days in Dublin a week ago. Nice compact city, everything within easy walking distance, but the price of booze and eating out is criminal. Temple Bar is very tourist orientated, lots of stag and hen parties from Britain getting legless on expensive and overchilled Guiness. You'll find better less crowded pubs elsewhere if you ask the locals

Temple Bar Hotel - real nice quality hotel and right in the middle of where you want to be. Stayed there twice and would highly recommend it.

I love the Clontarf Castle, out by the bay. Not in central Dublin, don't know if that's a plus or minus in your book. No idea how much it costs, Oracle always pays for me ;)
