Hi anybody given one of these a whirl in their system ?
Re That link, He has given them the heave hoo,and is setting up his own dealer network And glowing bottles attract the kid's
What a load of ****. There's nothing up there to align with the original recording because the signal is low-pass filtered at 22kHz before going to the ADC. There is aliasing noise up there, but nothing musically coherent.
I'm not claiming that his box will have no effect on the sound. I'm saying that his explanation for it is fiction.
Issac, this is why I find hifi interesting, what some perceive as snake oil to others appears as the holy grail
point taken,he did try to explain the tech stuff to me, but TBH my eyes glazed over, still he is so confident in his product I,ve got one for a while if it does what says on the box I,ll be well pleased, if not well, It'll go back
Taken from the manufacturer's site: "Between 0Hz and 34.99Khz the dap units have no effect on the audio source" ...nuff said really. It's amazing. They're freely admitting that the box does sweet FA and might aswell have nothing more than fresh air inside it and yet people are willing to pay £8-900 for one of those boxes? Michael.
I,ll pay nowt until my own ears decide either way It could be said Tis a bargain, compared to people who pay £1k+ on Powercables and mains stuff BTW I have to say the guy did not do the "hard sell" thing I was speaking to him regarding his experiances of fellow Audio Aero owners regarding tube changes & a seperate off board main PSU
What a load of nonsense. I thought he was trying to filter anharmonics at first but he clearly isn't as he reckons hes filtering 35K on a cd player?! Doubt hes given the distribution network the heave ho, looks more like its the other way round to me.
The DAP10 has had some rave reviews in the hifi press.....but then so have a load of other expensive products of very questionable merit What surprises me is that no-one has bothered to open it up and find out exactly what the box is doing (or not doing). Michael.
Go Pete H lets hear it. I've tried one, The chap who invetnted came in the room at the show last year, nice chap, worked for the BBc I believe? gave his reasons about the harmonic side of things. Does it work,? well It does something for sure, now where you could get a better result by doing someing else? thats a differernt matter?. Kev I can't believe you still mucking about?, please try some quality pre-amps, and thise non -sence won't enter you head!!!! Isaac can you go into detail how much difference those transports made at your little shindig the other nite?, as we all know they have no effect whatso ever, and you ALL must haven been deillusional. cheers Wm
I prefer not to comment since I own the one that was favoured and can't be seen as unbiased then. Let's say it wasn't subtle.
Hi, It seems that Whest audio will be at the Heathrow high fidelity show in April. http://www.chestergroup.org/pr02.htm I hope to be there and hope to have a listen. Also he has an interesting phono stage on offer which has had some top reviews. http://www.musicdirect.com/products/featured/img/WHEST/AWHEPS20/Whest Phono Fremer Review_0.pdf http://www.whestaudio.co.uk/pdfs/phonostage.20.pdf SCIDB
