    my only advice is this.

If you decide to go BT broadband, apply on the internet for it.

If you apply on the phone (like me) you get to pay £25 for your modem. Whopee.

I've been with Tiscali for over 18 months now and they're very good. I've only had one significant outage, and that was BT's fault. T'internet has been a bit slow of late though

Got to be Pipex, not the cheapest, but one of the most experienced and reliable providers. Fit and forget really.

I use BT-Yahoo Broadband. Not the cheapest at £29.95 for a 2 Mb speed / 30 Gb download service but i've not had any problems with them. Their anti-spy, anti-spam services seem to be working great for me.

The only time i've ever had any loss of service was when transco cut through the telephone cables outside my house whilst installing a new gas main ! In fact i have to say that BT internet has been rock solid for me for years now - amazing....

As from May 1st thy are introducing a facility so you can monitor exactly what kind of usage you actually use, regarding monthly download sizes etc. I may switch to a cheaper option if I'm not fully utilising my current service. I believe that very soon 2Mb will be BT minimum speed for all their BB customers.....?

tiscali seems ok to me, got the 256 service upgraded free from 150 allegedly.

has seemed slow at times, bloody yanks I bet.250 million online at one time

avoid plusnet had a really bad experience with customer service, was crap and couldn't get my cash back or even speak to a supervisor/manager, they let the poor call centre useless twats take the flak.
