Which cartridge

I run deccas, but am looking to run another tonearm with some other cartridge..any thoughts?

Im of the mind maybe a denon dl103r or lyra...I need advice as just cant see how a decca can be matched...but I want to try

They can't really, they're a unique experience. Not necessarily to everyone's taste, but there's nothing else out there quite the same.

 

Of the Lyra models the Argo is probably the closest match as it is quite lively and forthright with plenty of punch and attack. I've used several Decca cartridges and some days I love 'em and some days I hate 'em but now run an Argo.
The Denon will be very different in presentation - far fuller and warmer through the mid. If you go the denon route you'll need a high mass arm -something over 15gm effective mass ideally.

 

thanks for the info...now all I need to do is try and audition the argo/denon etc.....

which will be a tough one....

any one have any thoughts on higher priced cartridges or are they a waste of money for small performance gains...
