He is not strictly saying MF are like wadia, just what sounds similar to either at this price.
What car is as good as a rolls, yet costs £5k:D

michalab has a good MF for sale.

Correct sir! Forgive me if I have misled anyone on this.

Wadia however do not do DVDs so not so simple answer and I prefer the Wadia CD sound to MF. So, what sub £1000 (new or 2nd hand) CDPs sound similar to Wadia and what sub £1000 (new or second hand) amps sound similar to M/F but not made by M/F.

Separate question. What sub £1000 (new or 2nd hand) integrated M/F amp has the same characteristics as the M3?

    Cheers

    Dominic

For around £1K, I'd give the Exposure CD players a listen.

Amp like a Nuvista under a grand new? Mmmm, maybe a Sugden A21 (if you've got very efficient speakers) or else something Italian;)

Try a decent transport and a modified SuperDAC. With the caps upgraded, and some decent op amps in it, it's wadia-esque in pace and has surprising bass weight (but not quite the same as a wadia). Perhaps a modded TEAC like Michaelab's or Timpy's. Along with a modded superdac, you're still well under £1k.

As for a good integrated to partner it... it's not very MF, but an S300 is easily obtainable for that price (if you can find one).

Yes, I've just pretty well described the electronics of my own system (but I use a marantz as a transport), but I like it, and it sounds like a smoother, not quite as good version (to me anyway) of a certain wadia-fronted system I know of...
