    Guys,

Was lucky enough to get tickets. Was a bit concerened that they would disappoint because

    a) the Arena is bloody great barn (way too big I'd have thought) and

    b) I've seen em quite a few times before (including one of the Shepherds Bush gigs - which I thought was jaw droppingly good) - and you know, you see a band a few times and can get a bit bored of em. Better than last time at Brixton.

Worry not. Right on the money. Downright fantastic. Jack and Meg absolutely stormed it and the crowd went wild :) Anyone with tickets for the remaining gigs is in for a real treat.

PS. I think he'll be bloody lucky if he doesn't get sent dahn rolleyes: - silly boy. Still a spell in the nick'll only add to his blues guy cache ... mebbe.

wow ants, i was trying to get tickets for the london show, yet to no avail.

Sounds amazing, as of yet i havent seen them (expected to see them at reading before the finger incident happened!)

interesting to see how just two people can fill an arena

    who was in support then?

Band called Blanche (apparently it was a Blanche gig where the Jack and Jason prize fight took place) - but gabbing too much over our tea we missed them.

Yep, off to see them tomorrow, as is Dom. Should be good.

As for touts for Arthur Lee & Love... unlikely. Never yet seen a tout outside the art centre, not even when Robert Plant played up there. Can't buy art centre tickets online so the touts usual route to tickets is blocked immediately.

: old godger mode on :
i rember hearing a white stripes demo cd a few yeas ago in a rather fine bar in phillidelphia, they were looking for gigs at the time ,
    : old codger mode off:
top tip, even if a gigs sold out there maybe a return or 2,might be worth while enquiring at the box office (in person) on the night of the gig. Also traditonaly most theatres/arts centers hold back 2 house seats just incase the queen turns up, see if you can blag those

Cant see her showing up for Motorhead at Exeter Uni in November either... can't believe I'm finally getting to see them. OK, so Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor aren't in the band any more, but it'll still rule.

Can't wait to finish work and get to London!

For real!? Christ - what else privelege-wise does she get? As if shedloads of land, free food etc isn't enough...

Mind you, if she turned up at the 'Stripes tonight, I might respect her again - that would be mad. Either that, or bumping into her on the hardfloor at the Rex during a bangin' set from Dark Soho or something (mind you, that'd be more like Princess Beatrice or Eunice - isn't one of them "legal" now??? That makes ME feel old!!!).

Just 3 more hours of "school" to get through before LONDON - ROCK CITY!!!!

Bloody ace - they played for about 1h25m, but it was QUALITY time! I also had fun winding up the ticket touts - nearly got into a fight with one of them. Bottomfeeding scum...

The Brixton Academy even had Grolsch on - a bit of a bonus :)

Only bummer was we didn't get back to Exeter until 4am!!!

Yes, they were good. Much better than I expected. 1 hour 25 set was longer than I'd have thought, but then, Ball And Biscuit is quite a long track so that accounted for a bit of it. Some good choices of material too, quite a bit from White Blood Cells as well as the last album... finishing with their version of Boll Weevil Blues was a good move, got the whole crowd up and rocking even more than they already had been.

Venue was pretty packed, so we ended up right at the back by one of the bars, which was handy, and also there was a lot of fine women about too so not a bad vantage point from all perspectives!

    Roll on Reading.

Well now, it must have been a good one. Legend has it that Boll Weevil is the tune that Jack always ends the set with when HE's really had a good time and enjoyed it.

Nope - I just said he could have it for £1500 or get out of my face :) Well, something like that anyway.

If that's true about Boll Weevil, I'm dead chuffed - 'cos it was a good set and everyone seemed to enjoy it - Jack MUST have fed off that :)

The Grolsch was even cold - a not bad night at all really!!!

Roll on Love on Wednesday 11th :)

Looking back through the archives of NME online, it seems they play it (Boll Weevil) more often than not... they reported every setlist from the tour and it was only missing on the first night of 2 at Ally Pally by the look of things. Still, great track and a shame they've never released a version of it.

    Yes indeed, roll on Love.
