As a follow up to my ART thread and speaker shortlisting I came across a pair of ex-demo Zu Tones.
Has anyone listened to any of their speakers?
The alternative so far would be getting myself a pair of used Audio Notes...

    Cheers,
    Ricardo

I really don't like Zu speakers - horribly coloured beyond belief. Some people don't seem to hear that though. But friends who bought Druids soon sold them once they tired of the party trick.

I have a doubt: when you say coloured, do you mean as in distorted or rich toned as opposed to thin sounding?

i know someone who has them and he is also on a verge of selling them. he said that there is no way to position them in an average, normal 25m2 room. they apparently need to stay quite near to each other, like 1,5m apart, very much toed-in, almost 45 degrees - quite hard to accept but that's what he said.. .
a local importer here who is more an enthusiast than a businessman (leben, tact, mark/daniel, omega, verity etc) stopped importing them after being seriously disappointed.

I'll just say "wrong" to my ears. Not rich toned at all. Not thin either. Just horribly peaky.

Do you mean hifidelityaudio? That explains the rebate on the Tones...

If you are looking for sheer fun, Zu Druid and Tone are really entertaining speakers. I had a luxury to use them with Altmann, Leben CS300X, EAR-Yoshino 834T amps and it was a really enjoyable experience. I had a friend who is using a Druid with a Naim Nait 5i and he is extremely impressed another one with a Nelson Pass 50W clone and he is really satisfied with it as well.
