If you listen to that screaming engine a lot, ANY hi-fi system will be redundant. Interior noise levels are an important criterion for me when choosing a car (Porsche and Ferrari drivers, for example, pay a lot of money for the privilege of having their ears assaulted by noise at everyday speeds).

Well, i've had my black GTV V6 just over a month now, and its a love/hate thing!!

I've had it in my local Alfa specialist four times already!! Luckily they have been niggly jobs. Cost me £200 so far - I suppose you can always expect a few issues when buying a used car:rolleyes:

OTOH, lovely motor with great styling, performance, and actually the fuel situation aint too bad for a 3.0!!

Have thought about parting with already, but just looking at it changes my mind!

My former Manager kept a 164 for 3 years/80k miles and the only problem he had with it was a distributor lead had come lose. It was one of the most reliable cars he's had.

i had a alfa 33 a few years ago (17 in fact) it was the 1.7. it was the most unreliable car i have ever had. it was only good about 200 miles after each service and had had a special sat nav chip installed that meant it only broke down in the most inconvient places and at the worst time; northbound in the blackwall tunnel on a friday in the rush hour, on parliament square at a similar hour.

The other problem with a 3 year old Alfa 164 with 80k miles is the "two bob and a rabbit" it is worth when he comes to sell it, whereas that nice 5 Series he should have bought.....

Its not only the reapirs you get fleeced on, and I had a 156 2.5 V6 for three years !

fortunately I do not own a car, and can therefore limit my defensiveness to the bits of hifi I own

apols if this is on topic ...

and Joe fairly sums up my view.

I'd like to make believe that the reflection achieved by the shine that these cloths (sic) deliver allows me to look beyond the apparent beauty into the soul that lies beneath, fully exposing the PRaT that I am
