I don't think ZG is going downhill at all. I've always liked this place and spend nearly as much time reading / posting stuff here as I do over on pfm.

ZG has a really nice balance of views, and the vast majority of posters allow sufficient space for these views to exist. In my experience this is the key to a smooth running forum, controversial views are not by themselves a problem. I also love being somewhere where some other mug has to do the moderation!

    Michael,

Firstly, like some of the others have mentioned, thanks for making ZeroGain available for public usage out of your own pocket. Good show! Your points about the difficulty in moderating are valid but I also 'understand' your defence of the forum and it's moderators. Contrary to popular opinion, my posts in this thread were not designed as a wind-up to people or as a start to 'World War III' but mainly to highlight certain observations. I believe that if you check the archives, you will find that I post more about hifi than I do criticizing ZeroGain. I would also like to think that my criticisms were constructive rather than destructive to the forum. Posting an opinion, no matter how controversial it may seem to some members should not result in personal abuse (especially from Merlin) or abuse from the 'mob' and I'm not just referring to this thread. Again, check the archives. However, when such instances occur, the Moderators are nowhere to be found regardless of how nasty the personal attacks get. On the other hand, if it was me or another 'ordinary forum member' making the personal attacks, well you know the rest …………….

Anyway, I have said my piece (or pieces) and I retract nothing. I believe that on an open forum such as this, different views should co-exist side by side. I don't believe that just because I have not contributed any money to the running of the forum, therefore, I should not criticise certain aspects of it such as the moderating style. The financial aspect should not come into it as it can be easily remedied if it is an issue.

The forum certainly has some good aspects to it but also has some negative aspects as well. Is ZeroGain going downhill? No, it is a good forum but it should not be immune from criticism either. However, the impression "The Management" is giving out to the rest of the members is that I spend more time criticising the forum than I do posting about hifi. Well, everyone, (including yourself) knows that I post more about hifi than I do criticise. I will continue to post on ZeroGain to hifi and other topics that are of interest to me but if you feel that my contribution on this forum is purely destructive (not constructive), then you are within your rights, as owner of the forum to withdraw my posting priviledges.

    Enjoy the music,

    Lawrie.:D
