Well, maybe I misunderstood you. I got that impression from
    and

I hope you understand how my confusion arose. :)

    closer than you think
Personally , I think it,s the attitude of people that makes something elitist .
I don,t think it,s got anything to do with how much anything costs .
    For example
"if your hifi isn,t mana,d , its not working properly"

To me the above is an elitist statement , it,s got absolutely nothing to do with cost ,(starter entry mana doesn,t cost a lot) but much , much more to do with attitude .

Sorry Paul, I meant why do you think it will be an unacceptable compromise when you have not tried it out? Seems rather Bub like to make assumptions? I love the Quad, no bones about it, but in stock form, there's no way I could live with it's limitations. I still don't understand how people can describe it as accurate when it can't even get the bloody levels right!

It has more to do with truth, in fact.

    Bullsh*t detector alert.

The truth is yev been had. :) £9000 for steel and glass, sounds more like a car, rather than a pile of scaffolding.

really I had no idea! Still I guess James is so far in now that there's little hope of getting much for it on the used market - given the amount that's being sold off by Gary and the like.

That's a shame because that amount of money would go a long way to improving the system for the majority - although I do accept you would lose the peculiar colourations/distortions it is claimed are added by those supports.

Merlin I don't suppose he paid that for it but that's the retail cost. And he said my dealer saw me coming, sheesh, no wonder JW has such a nice house.

Has Gary sold it then? He told me he'd let me know as soon as he decided to sell, but I've not heard anything from him so far.

Word on the grapevine is yes James - but it's just that.

Although I was amused by a report of the body and "texture" of the music coming back with a very simple tweak for Mana users - seems there's hope after all :)

Do you ever engage brain before typing, Merlin?

Most of your posts seem to be of the "this bloke told me, down the pub..." variety.

The insistent questioning about the RT 90 of my room was a classic of its genre. Do you know anything about anything at all?

    Really James, no need :D

There are different ways to gain information and experience. One is to experience something yourself (Obviously I'm not selling mana and upgrading - done that in the past). The second is to garner information either from listening or by reading. In this instance I used the latter method, and funnily enough it was in the pub :D Still if you have information to the contrary I would be most interested in hearing it.

Oh and it's RT 60 BTW  Clearly, as you have not yet answered any of my questions regarding your room acoustics, you are either avoiding the issue as you know I am correct or you don't understand the question. Which might it be me ol' mucker

    Markus,

I gained information not knowledge - hence the caveat I placed on the statement ;)

    Hence the above Markus

Still, it is information from a trusted source so we'll see - hopefully Bub will get evidence to the contrary then it will only be about five of us who have upgraded on the forum.

Several people pointed out to you that the RT 60 and RT 90 measurements are only applicable to large reverbarative spaces - cathedrals, the Royal Albert Hall, enclosed stadiums, and the like.

I live in a house, Merlin.

    Mmm,

Can you let me know why even small studios place considerable importance on contolled reverberation times then James? What is the use of products from the likes of RPG and Auralex in the domestic enviroment unless to control unwanted reflective energy?

I understand that the purpose behind using your room for an acoustic recording was to take advantage of the natural reverb. My issue would be that you are hearing this natural reverb when playing back any recorded music that was mixed in a controlled enviroment. Surely this cannot be accurate James?
