    Hi HR100MCS

Not heard the Actors, but I have Orators (same cabs but just one LF driver) and they were the end of my speaker trail (at least for now...) - excellent with the right quality amplification. I understand they're not everyone's cup of tea though so best to try to listen if you can.

    Cheers

They are the smaller version of the ACTIIs. They are not everyones cup of tea. for a soft pleasant sound you can't beat them. They are to chill to, not to party too.

Thats the good bit, the bad bit is they need a monster amp to run.

They were originally run of TAG Mclaren monoblocs 60wpc. They sounded like poo. they need a GOOD 200w to come alive. they are currently paired with Krell Class A 200w. Nothing is better to relax too. To get the best from them a £8k amp was needed.

    I really like the Benesches,
thought the Actors were good, and ended up getting the ACT's. I would say that with the right amps (lots of watts) they can party as well as chill!

How many watts are we talking about to make them party? 200w Class A of Krell didn't manage it.

It could be the fact I like a real jumpy lively speaker like the monitor audio studio 15, they were the best speakers ever. just more fragile than a kitten in a garbage compactor*

I had some wb arcs which were very detailed on the highs. Some thought verging on too bright, but that could well have been my bare room and other kit.

I have 'em tri-amped up to a generous 400W of Musical Fidelity amp. Probably not as refined and detailed as the Krell, but certainly punchy enough.
