I've just got a Sansui 717 Tuner, but there's no plug on it and it has a black wire and a black and white wire. Which one goes to positive and which one goes negative.
Any ideas anybody? Or does it not matter?

would guess the solid black is the negative, making the black and white the live..... caveat, etc......

That's kind of what I figured, but am going to ask the Sansui group as well!

Phew, no bangs, sparks or escaping magic smoke! So it works, will listen much and see how it sounds now.
Thinking about it, it might be much like a figure of 8 plug in that polarity doesn't really matter

    Hi,

The black white wires are for the US system.

    Black is Live or 'Hot'

    White is neutral or 'Common'

    plug wiring

The 'black and white' wire appears as a white line stretching the length of the black insulation to denote positive connection in European manufacture. In U.S.A. models there is usually a total black and a total white insulated wire. Black then denotes 'hot' or positive.
