Wasn't it Alan Clarke who said that there was no red worth drinking under £100 ;)

Now where did I leave that record cleaning fluid?

Thanks for the info, I will pop down there tomorrow! I don't normally buy wine because I like it so much I drink a bottle a night! Very expensive at normal prices!

They didn't bloody have any! They had 4 bottles of wine for £5... but they were miniature!

So I drunk one of my Dads bottles instead :D

Just out of interest how long does a bottle of wine normaly last you? I find they rarely last more than two nights, normaly one!

Oh okay :) I thought I was quite bad drinking a bottle all on my own in a night. I feel a little better now!

Didn't George Best's mate say that George was on 8 - 10 bottles a day at the moment? I think it was in some gutter rag last week. At least Gerard owns a wine estate.

One new year's eve I had 2 reds back to back in 30 minutes - not big, not clever, but I (very surprisingly) wasn't really tipsy either - can't work that one out!

Wine's good - even winebox wine at a push. Nothing beats a pint of red as soon as the tent's pitched at Glastonbury...

yeah, I can normally make a bottle of red last 2 nights...

I'm aware that some of the cheaper reds can contain additives etc...anyone know much about this..?

Whether it's red or white makes no difference. The main point is how sensitive the wine is to air (oxygen). A full bodied, solid red from the Rhone valley or generally the south of France or some new world regions with lots of sun will easily keep until the next day, and will even often taste better. A more refined, fragile wine like red Burgundies will oxidize overnight. Most Bordeaux do too. Same applies to whites.

    Rule of thumb :
    - if you feel it's not gonna keep, drink it.
    - if you feel it's a bit tight and closed, wait until tomorrow,
    - if you feel like drinking it, drink it ;)

We usually crack a bottle open every night, and swear we will keep half for the next day. We rarely succeed. :D
