Is all I can say, went to visit Tony (WM) to buy some stuff on the weekend. Best system I've ever heard, big stereo image and dynamics + not too bright. What a hifi! Finally there's a system that can do it all. Shame I'll never be able to afford it ;)

    Later!

Knowing Tone he'll have done a few more mods by then. I remember when I was there a few weeks ago he had taken the draw front off the Wadia so he could play with the transport some more... :D

:D I know what you guys mean - I bought a pair for speakers from Tony a month ago and heard his system, I didn't have time for a proper listen but..... listened to first of all an old Deep Purple track (old recording, missing a lot) and I thought - Wow - thereafter a couple of newer things and the obligatory "female vocals track". Blinding. Top bloke.

And not short of an opinion or several :)

Mention "funny handshakes" to him in passing, but don't do that unless you have at least an hour or so of spare time first... :D ;)

It's even better when they then go on to buy what you're selling ;)

He's in Tunisia now so if you think WM's system is good, you should here Alex S's. Wow!

I have a feeling a lot of people enjoy the effect of Tony's bass room gain rather than the sound of the system per se. It is this room gain which gives the characterstic WM sound, more so than the kit used IMO.

It's not strictly accurate, but does accuracy matter?

The room is the key to the bottom end Robbo definately. WM ploughs his own furrow and has taken that to a high level. All credit to him.

I know of experienced audiophiles who find the whole experience underwhelming, and equally of enthusiasts who love his unique approach. It shows how subjective the whole hobby is.

Well in January I have some free time on my hands so if anyones up for letting me hear their system that'd be cool. I'm in Bedford but can travel. Equally if anyone would like to pop in and hear mine they're very welcome!

    Cheers, Tim
