    Hi Mart

I've got a Yamaha RX-V1300RDS - Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, DTS EX, Pro Logic II, Neo:6, etc. receiver. The amplifier section is 6 x 100w. It's mint, 1 year old, original box, manual, remote, receipt. 1 year still left on the guarantee. Was £800 new and I'm looking for £350. Please PM me if you are interested

    Mart.

You can connect up a full blown amp the same as a processor AFAIK. Just connect the av speakers to the av amo/processor, and the main speakers to the cyrus. Connect cables from the av amp/processors front pre out to an input on ur amp. Get ur level ready, and you're away.

I don't imagine it's any different with a full av amp or processor for this.

As far as affordable processors go, the E800 if the only one I can think of. Like you mention, it also has 3 chanals of amplification built in. You could argue that as you're having to pay for two (at least) amp sections and that because there's less in the case (sharing psu, interfering etc...), you'd get a higher performance to a similarly priced full on av amp.

However, the E800 aint the youngest puppy on the block anyMOre! 5.1 DTS and DD is fine for me (I use an E800), but should you wish to use the newer formats with even MOre speakers, and of course DPLII, then you wont be able to.

I'd be tempted to either hold out for something which is a bit MOre future proof, perhaps upgradable! The problem here though is that that's likely to be MOre expensive, and I'm not sure how many offer the processor with built in amplification for the AV speakers. You may have to buy some power amps

    Soooooooooooooooo.

Your best bet might well be to go for a full on av amp (check this is definitely correct) and just hook it up like you would the E800

Prices are dropping fast. And if the "outdated" spec of the E800 bothers you, then a decent av amp can be had for a few hundred! Some of the marantz ones for instance can be had for bargain prices and are well though of!

I think Michaelab uses his marantz av amp like this (intigrated with the hifi).

    HTH

    MO :)

Cheers Mo, I have a pioneer AV amp but its an earlier vsx 808 and doesnt have preouts for the front channels or I would have used it as you say.

I aint too bothered about the future proofing and think the E800 will be fine for my needs. Thanks though. Mart
