I am using the XP Office 2007 Beta which ran out last night.

Microsoft has now requested that the Beta version is deleted and you download the 60-day Trial version of Office 2007.

The thing is, you have to delete the Beta version before you can install the Trial version.

I went through the process last night and have not been able to remove the Beta version using the standard add/remove programs facility.

One thing i may have cocked up on is this.
    i) I created a system restore point first BEFORE I deleted the Beta Version. I then deleted the Beta version.
ii) I then went to download the Trial version and you have to login to get it. I had forgotten my login details so tried to rollback to the system restore point so I could access mu Outlook files again (and find my login details)
iii) When I did the the restore, I wasn't allowed back into use Outlook as the Beta period had expired.
iv) am now stuck with a "broken" Beta version Office 2007 on my system that I cannot remove.

Any ideas as searching the net isn't helping me.

Also, what happens to your outlook email, addresses, etc. when you remove the office 2007 Beta - are they lost!!!

save out all your contacts and emaisl into a pst.file so you can reload them into whatever you choose to install with.

I am worried I have lost them already as the system restore doesn't seem to want to work properly. i.e. my system is still in the post Office 2007 removal state.

If I do a search for *.pst on my hard drive, I don't get anything?

Your addreses, emails etc will still be there.

I will check the exact folder when I get home if someone else doesn't help you in the meantime ( am at work now).

What you can do is stay at the retore point, i.e. before you deleted anything and install Mozilla Thunderbird free email client, or Oulook Express or similar). You can then import your emails, addresses etc into Thunderbird.

Check your login details and then you can always import them back into Outlook when you have re-installed the trial version.

What do you plan to do when the "trial " runs out?

Here are the folders to check. If these folders are empty then you might have deleted the data already.

    File Drive

    Outlook data files (.pst)
    drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Offline Folders file (.ost)
    drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Personal Address Book (.pab)
    drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Offline Address Books (.oab)
    drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Something strange here,

I am not seeing the "Local Settings" directory at all?

If I assume that my computer is still in a state where it has removed Office 2007 (as the system Restores are not working)...would that have deleted all my emails?

What operating system are you running?

    For Windows 2000/XP:

Double-click My Computer on your desktop.
From the Tools menu, click Folder Options, click the View tab, and then click the Show hidden files and folder option

Uninstalling the application should not delete any of the data files

    Glad you found the data!

To start or stop a Windows service:

Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
    Click Manage.
    Double-click Services and Applications.
    Double-click Services.
Right-click on the service you wish to start or stop, then click the appropriate choice
