Well, I've just received my second issue of a US music mag called "Elmore" - years subscription 30 dollars ) and would suggest you check it out if you're vaguely interested in blues/roots type music. It would seem there is an endless list of indie type blues/roots labels and artists over there which I for one had never heard of or suspected. The album reviews are almost always positive which put me off on first reading but I followed one up on google (Eden Brent - Mississippi Number One) which took me to Yellow Dog Records and their list of artists. I have just listened to short MP3 downloads of some of them and they sound genuinely fresh ! If this is just a sample of what is going on in the States, I reckon it will bear closer ear-scrutiny.
