A week ago Pete sent me a set of the aforementioned cable to try in my setup...which consists of
    Marantz cd50 cd player
    Roksan Kandy mkIII amp
Mon. Audio gr10 speakers(modded crossovers courtesy of Tony@ Coherent Systems)
    QED silver anniversary speaker cable.
The cable i was using before was a QED Qunex 1 bottom of the line jobbie
I havent really bothered with any cable upgrades since i started building my system 6 years ago, except for the speaker wire which i got free with the last set of speakers i bought.
They replaced the ordinary QED 79 strand stuff and there was quite a considerable difference between the two, with better res and tighter bass with the silver ann.
Anyway, back to the point, I connected up the pink ribbons after 20 mins listening time with the QED so i had a good fresh comparison in mind and immediately i noticed more air, more definition and so much more space between instruments&voices.everything seemed so much more 'real' and the soundstage depth really improved, giving everything much more solidity and focus. The bass also improved remarkably, tightening up but not losing any depth or impact.Where it was sometimes boomy at certain frequencies,it was now a lot more controlled and even.
The only problems i had to begin with were an increase of sibilance and harshness in upper frequencies but with a bit of run in this dissipated almost completely over the next few days. This was not only the cable's fault but also because i installed a new pair of op amps in the CD50 which i suspect also needed run in time. The system, after a weeks warming up now sounds more coherent and focused, with beautiful pinpoint imaging and lovely clear midrange.there's still a hint of sibilance on harsh recordings but that only shows how transparent the cable is, showing up weaknesses in my system which still has a lot of improvements needed(the cdp is over 10 years old and pretty knackered).
I would recommend these cables to anyone looking to upgrade. As i said earlier i can't comment on how they compare to more expensive "mainstream" cables out there as i haven't tried any but other people have posted threads on the subject elsewhwre on this forum and i don't doubt their findings for a minute.
For the sceptics out there, i suggest you PM Zanash and give his cables a try for yourself. You have nothing to lose.

    Cheers Peter.

The reason for the looks ...is
a/ a job lot of 25mm white cotton tape useful but not pretty
b/ I did not want to use any plastic in it [other than a gnats of heatshrink]
c/ the ribbon was in my wife sewing box
e/ i wanted to try something different from the crowd.

Maybe you should rename it The Chantelle!
    Just kidding!
After the initial"What the ????" it actually looks pretty cool
Besides, its how the cable sounds that matters and IMO i couldn't be happier

    You got any pics Pete?

I'd assumed that 'ribbon' meant some form of HD data cable but clearly not!
I' been thinking of using some HD cable since my speaker cables have to run under a carpet (there is a door to navigate). I see you can get 'posh' PTFE HD cables now.

If he hasn't, I can confirm that they look like something out of Ann Summers for holding up a pair of stockings. Very tasty.

    thrilly or frilly ?

Joking a side these will give a clean clear natural presentation and being DIY as long as you have the skill and tools they are very easy to build. The reasoning behind the frills...adds damping and increases the distance any other cable can interact with the conductors [in an electromagnetic sense] and is pretty on the eye !

so if L is the finished length ....

    you will need
    4 x L in 25mm wide [minimum] cotton tape
    2 x L stiffener [optional]
    4 x L 3mm silver ribbon or similar
4 x L jacket material [the pink ribbon]
    4 good rca plugs
    a little heat shrink
    silver solder
    and about 2-3hrs for construction

make 2 x1L cotton tape into a front and back with two sleeves running down the length at the sides.
fold and stich so that the two sleeves are back to back.
fold ribon and stich both edges together
thread silver and stiffener and sleeve with ribbon
attach rca plugs use heat shrink to stiffen cable entry.

material costs are approx £40 but a lot depends on the rca plugs you use.

Pic is an unterminated pair......[flash made the ribbon blue ?]

Sound wise these will beat most the van de huls so I'm told. Put the mogami to the sword. They can really compete with the more esoteric cables they come to about 75% of the AgAu performance. Which as stated previously elsewhere run things like the black rhodium rare earth cryo silver bullets [a damn fine cable at a price ] ...so close its nearly impossible to seperate them.
