    Hi,

Went into Zavvi yesterday. The prices were not the cheapest around. A lot of stuff still at normal prices.

They are doing no cash refunds only swopping for like priced items.

I can't help but feel this could be the end! DUN DUN DUNNN!!!

With more and more people already buying online or just downloading, can you see these stores recovering? Or even being replaced!

I can't believe the guys bought out Branson. Surely the writing was on the wall...

I don't think they did 'buy out' Branson, i imagine it was more a repackaging of debt, selling off of liability for buttons with the expectation it would fail but the blame not landing on Bransons copybook.

    happens all the time.

I kind of twigged this was on the cards over two weeks ago when I enquired about giftcards. They told me they werent doing them.

I thought that was odd but then summised that they must be going under soon. I went to HMV instead.

I wasnt surprised when I read about this a few days ago.

Aren't HMV meant to be in trouble (have been for a while?) too?

    Sure I've heard that before.

Likewise, went in over the Christmas limbo days, just a regular sale to me - bought nothing as I can get it cheaper elsewhere

It is still a shame though, another shop gone for the times when you "just need" to get something without internet ordering delays.

Theres gonna be no companies left at this rate lol

I think the internet could be blamed for the killing of many stores such as zavvi etc. as you can get much better deals online and dont even have to leave the house

Quick update, sale now on properly - 20% off across the board even on lowest sticker price which in some cases is already "clearance" - got two DVDs and one CD all recent for about £8 yesterday :D 30% off other bits like posters (nice bit of wall art?) and T-Shirts etc

Hit it hard and hit it fast chaps!

    it's a shame -

someone said Zavvi supplied Wooly's , and with Wooly's going under and owing them money that 'done for' Zavvi.

Is that true? - got no idea where I heard that - here, there, god knows.

You're round the wrong way - Woolworths supplied Zavvi - as soon as Woolworths went under, Zavvi couldn't guarantee delivery, so they stopped taking any orders online. Eventually, no stock means no business, so they went under.

I can't say I will miss Zavvi, but I hope HMV keeps going. I'm often surprised by some of the good music HMV has that you wouldn't expect to find in a chain store. I will by it from them often just because I don't want to see them go away, but I also sometimes opt to buy online if the price is a lot higher.
