Skynard then Led Zep then Hendrix for me as a top 3.

Bohemian Rhapsody was a pop song and shouldnt be included (all IMHO of course:)) - and the fact that I think it was shit doesnt help.

hmm. Zep ARE that good IMHO, just stairway to heaven is a bit..well its cheesy and overplayed.

Again, just my opinion but my gut tells me that people who vote Stairway as the best zepplin song aren't really fans of the band.

My least favourite thing about stairway is that the song takes off about 2/3rds of the way through - and thats where they cut it when its on the radio - just when the guitars are about to come in and it takes off!

Chris, i thought the same about Stairway, listened to it last week after a long time, and it does deserve its rep, it was just overplayed.

    Yep, they are THAT good.

Zeppelin were unique, probably never to be bettered, imho. But I don't think STH is their best track, just their most popular, its become a rock anthem, which is not such a bad thing.Kashmir has many more layers to it,and Since I've Been Loving You is a glorious rock/blues track, particularly on the BBC Sessions.

If I had to pick a Zeppelin track for best Rock Song it'd probably be Immigrant Song, Kashmir or Achilles Last Stand, none of these are that overplayed in comparison.

Freebird would get my vote though!

The drumming and sense of rythm on Achilles Last Stand is just amazing, love the bluesy side to led zep too
