I ahve taken far too long to get How The West Was Won,but its now quite frankly the most awesome bit of music I own, side 3 will make you faint

Its everything The Song Remains The Same should have been and The BBC Sessions nearly is

highly recommended, for any rock fan, never mind Zep Head

have you seen the DVD that was issued at the same time? got it for my mum this christmas. Lots of footage, was great to watch for me as i never got to see them.

My Mum actually had the ticket from the earls court gig that some footage was recorded from, that was a nice touch!

So I'm not the only one who's really slow at buying things then? That's good to know. Sooner or later I'll get around to picking up both the DVD and CD. It has to be done really!

getting it on DVD sounds like the best option to me...

The DVD does look excellent. I didn't realise though that there's no overlap on material from the CD to the DVD. None of it's been released before so at least it isn't re-issue for the sake of re-issue! Sometimes it seems there's just too many re-issues out there to work out which is the best copy to get, the Hendrix releases are starting to get that way...

what DVD are you referring to? HTWWW are totally different gigs than the DVD I have, and have been produced by Jimmy Page. This release has nothing to do with re-issues,its genuine stuff.Unless there is a DVD release i am not aware of,HTWWW is not the same as the DVD release, totally different.

The box set and then Remasters were all remastered by Page,so again worth getting (the second box set was just the other album tracks not on the first box set,so buy both and you have every album track on cd remastered by Page himself,so no need to get any indivual cd)

Thats unusual. Didnt realize they had done that.
A live album appeals much more to me on DVD still though, so thats the one I'd probably get.

I'll stick with the original LPs :) fantastic artwork, memories, great sound and a genuine listening experience.

...although the completist in me would like the box sets aswell..

I know it's a totally different thing. I was just mentioning the re-issue bit in response to bottleneck's post.

It certainly is an unusual approach though... and a good one IMO.

Not having the albums on CD, I picked up both Box Sets a few years back, think I paid a total of £35 for them second hand and in mint condition... major bargain that was! Only problem was that making up the album sequences onto CD or tape was quite time consuming but all sorted now!

well,i think i have read that the box sets were remastered from the original masters, not second and third jobbies, unlike maybe the reocrd companies lp releases, and the box sets were remastered by Page himself, unlike the individual cds

    i think:rolleyes:
