[Update 23/02/07: I've also set up a page with donation details on the main site.]

    Hello folks,

Last year we raised the question amongst ZG members to see what the general consensus was with regards to our best source of funding.

We don't really have a large enough base of trade members who make use of our classifieds section to charge a fee to advertise, so this isn't likely to be a huge success.

Although we'd only consider non-invasive text adverts, a large proportion of members were against the idea of advertising upon the site.

Paid memberships isn't something we would consider - ZG is a free site and will always remain that way.

The realistic option that leaves us with for funding is voluntary donations from members...

    ZeroGain's Costs
    • Hosting: £33 per month
    • Domain: £10 per year
    • Software licence: £15 per year

That brings us to a touch over £35 each month, which is currently coming out of the staff's pockets.

Starting from last month, I'll create a page that lists how many months we have funding for, payment details and similar. If we're running low, I'll post a thread to let people know and request donations to keep the site going.

We're not going to request a fixed amount, you can donate as much or as little as you wish, but please bear in mind that donations don't buy you any immunity from the rules or any favour from the moderators.

Please post in this thread if you would like to pledge a donation, or PM me if you wish to donate anonymously.

Whilst a cheque or bank transfer is preferred to keep Paypal's profits down, Paypal payments can be sent to [email protected]. If you wish to send a cheque/bank transfer, I'll PM you the appropriate details.

On behalf of the whole ZG team, thank you all for your continued support in keeping the site going.

    Mark

I'd rather pay a few squid a year than have adverts. As said, a poll has been done on this.
