I reckon its time for a best of ound up.

    Best posters in -

    Ill start

    1. I cant realy comment as its not my area (good cop out at the start;) )

    2. Im going for SCIDB, his musical knowledge seems to know no bounds, always informative and interesting.

    3. Merlin, a cantankerus(sp?) but funny poster, without his never ending box swapping where would the HiFi section be??

    4. Julian, for his DIY speaker thread, I followed it all the way. Sometimes funny, sometimes scary! (did it bleed for long?)

    5. Michael, His Noh pre-amp review, an interesting thread with great input from the author and others.

    6. Tough call this one, many posts from people with interesting views and opinions. But im going for 7V, Some good topics, sometimes touchy subjects. But Steve handles them well with a balanced view (imo)

    7. WM, Tone has been a gent and good friend over the last year, helping me out often. Freely gives his advice and opinions to others (although not allways welsome ;) ), and the WM spelling technique is just pure class!

So come on, whats your choices??

    1) Same
    2) SCIDB again. Also from the bakeoffs... a great way of hearing some new music and making amazon richer is to invite Dean!
    3) Hmmm... not sure I can call this one easily. I think in the interests of diplomacy I shalln't.
    4) Unexpected king of DIY this year for me has been Julian with his speaker build diary.
    5) An unusual choice in pbirkett, for his ability to proclaim several finest ever headphone amps / cans in the same year.
    6) Amazingtrade, on the strength of posting the most topics that I have actually felt interested to read and post.
    7) As hard to call as 3). Perhaps for largely being a moderate voice, and knowing music from the inside, lordsummit. Does a decent chili too.

1 Has to be a joint award, Tones for his contribution to baroque music, and Graham for Romantic
2 Has to be Dean. If I hadn't spent all my money on speakers and a cartridge he would have bankrupted me. I think he should publish lists of interesting music to buy. I don't know anybody who knows more about this style of music
3 Tricky one this, but my favourite all year has been Mr P, and it's his fault I bought those rubbish speakers!
4 Who else could it be apart from Julian. who else has given blood in the cause and photographed it!
5 Has to be Mr Birkett, the worlds greatest authority on headphone amps
6 Ooh I don't know. Perhaps if we give it to Amazing trade, he'll go and get a girlfriend :D
7 Well I don't want to start a self appreciation society, but may I suggest Isaac, for his never ending willingness to explain technical complexities to idiots like myself

And a special award to Michael for continuing to run this place despite all the grief it must cause him sometimes.
    Cheers everyone.

    GrahamN, or possibly Tones.

    2. Pop/Rock/Dance/Jazz/World - whatever!
Ian. I could have put a couple more names (like Dean!), but if I had to pick one..

    3. HiFi
Joel. For giving a viewpoint away from the beaten path.

Another one for Mr 'blood on the tracks'

    2. Pop/Rock/Dance/Jazz/World - whatever!
BL21DE3 because he seems to a similar taste to mine hip-hop and electronic styles. Followed up a few names he's mentioned :)
Ian because he's helped fill a few gaps in my music spectrum, aswell as adding new dimensions to it.
And mentions also for Tony L and Dean.

    3. HiFi
Tones for style content and delivery :tones: :swiss: :irish:
And a mention for Isaac. Not a ****ing clue what he's on about half the time, but takes the time to explain in depth to those who he can with his growing techie knowledge.

    4. DIY
Julian here too. An interesting and entertaining thread/adventure lol.

With apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan.

As two-oh-oh-four closes, there's a need to mention names
I've got a little list, I've got a little list
And those you see upon it have made sure that ZeroGain's
A forum one can't miss, it really can't be missed
Position pole is Michael, who's the leader of the pack
And even though he's dac'd sometime, he always bounces back.
And Wadia-Miester tells it in a language all his own
So people throw their hands up, bellow, “Omiga!†and groan
We've Technobear, Lordsummit, Merlin and Midlife Crisis
There'll none of them be missed, I've got them on the list

There's Titian R. whose system is the best you've ever heard
Gives Arth attacks to vis – itors who're on the list
And Isaac Sibson's turning into major technic nerd
He really would be missed, if he weren't on the list.
There's TonyL, a Pinky Fish, where Naim and vinyl rules
Our speaker interests catered for by 7V and Jules
But, just a MO! There's Joel, who adds Oriental spice
And Philip's King of Sweden, land of Saab (the car) and ice
But Penance not required if hi-fi to your mill is grist
Whose absence would be missed, you must be on the list!

IaMBoy, Sid and Coke, Amazing Trade and Pe-Zulu
PBirkett's headphone tryst, is there upon the list
Data, Cookiemonster, ReJoyce! Bottleneck's there too
And US Stumblin's missed (but he's still on the list)
GrahamN, PeteH your men if loud Romantic is your quest
And SCIDB's your man for nearly all the rest
But RdS will organ-ise your contrapuntal, as
Are Lilolee and Sideshowbob your uncles if it's jazz
But whate'er your music or hi-fi, we beg, don't keep your dist-
Ance, come and make a fist, of being on the list.

Henry T's there, but Dom Brown has disappeared from view
We think he would insist, that he stay on the list
Along with Fox, Dev, Robbo, Hippy, Wolfgang and Voodoo
And Markus sauer ist, if he's left off the list
And not forgetting those who have been banned from time to time
    Like – Tut-tut-tut – and – Wotsiname – and – Oh well, never mind.
And there are so many others whom I simply cannot name
Which doesn't mean your contributions have been all in vain
So, see you next year here for more upgraded hi-fi bliss
You really will be missed, so please stay on the list.

Thank you for the kind thought, Isaac, but I don't think a minor talent for brutalising the language is any compensation for a singular dearth of hi-fi knowledge.

They're all still around. I saw all three of them in the pub only the other week! I think Dom's reached a point where he doesn't want to do much more upgrading for the time being and has also actually been doing work between 9-5! Lhatkins has been busy getting his house decorated and improved and HenryT's still around, though I think he's been reading more than posting.

    Hi Paul,

Yep, I'm still here occassionally, but mainly lurking in the shadows. Not much time to post these days, although I don't have much to say either. The subjectivist in me has found his own path and selecting and choosing as required. ;) I've got some plans in the pipeline for the hi-fi for the coming 12 months, nothing drastic in the way of box swapping just improving on what I've already got. And then that'll be it, hopefully, famous last words! :D

So, that'll be giving the 850 and the bc the tone treatment?

    Isaac,

A defnite yes for the 850.

Not sure if I'll be keeping the current BC or changing over to a pre/power BC combo. We'll see, but whichever one gets treated too.
