Am I being stupid ?

Just take your cheque book to the demo. You will know that that also is good advice when you hear the CDX. :D

Yes, once you've listened you'll be desperate to buy (something else :D )

When you press fast forward on the remote, you don't have to wait 10 seconds for the track to skip to the next. Just hit play and it will start playing immediately (at least, this is true with the 588, and from recollection is also true of the 507).

It does take an age to load a new disk, but track access using this method is as quick as any CDP I've used.

I've got the Meridian 588, when you load a CD there is an initial delay as it reads the cd. I haven't timed it but I'd say it was about 5 seconds.

Once its loaded, when one song finishes the next one is instaneous. There is only another delay if you skip forward a track but that is more like 3 seconds, never 10.

Ah yeah but Timpy - this is the new skool Naim stuff so it won't be brillo-pad ache-licious... Although that said, that nice NAIT3 you punted me is still sounding rather good :)

I'd like to hear a CDX2 in the context of a familiar system myself actually...

Nothing wrong with a Nait 3 despite what some people say. It was the best integrated under £1000 in its time. I run one for my rear speakers in a cinema system. May buy another for the centre front also.:MILD:
