I've always enjoyed the Sharpe series, so it was good to see the new episode. However, a couple of things amused me. On the first half, there was a row of injured sepoys - and most of them seemed to have a wound in exactly the same place on the left upper thigh. Presumably the local make-up teams were running a production line.. The other thing is that Sean Bean is always gasping for breath - is this part of his acting style or is the man just desperately unfit? Anyway, good to see him back. It would be good if TV also picked up some other Bernard Cornwell books, like the ones about the Saxon archer.

You'd be gasping for breath too if, when not fencing with the obligatory cad, you had to nob every bit of posh totty you met.

Throughly good escapest viewing, well up to standard. I'm willing to be his body double for nobbing all the posh totty but someone else will have to do the fencing as my sword may be a bit longer than his.

not sure that he actually did nob any of the posh totty this time -seemed to keep making gentlemanly excuses and leaving.:( "ee, sorry luv, but i'm already a bit out of breath..". however there was a gratuitous bodice-ripping scene, which we have come to love and expect - if they ever do a 'best of' compilation they can call it Sharpe's T*ts :)

They've upped the anti on the gratuitous violence though haven't they. That sword going through the Indian bird was horribly realistic. (I imagine!)

Quite so. However, that actress,Padma Lakshmi, is Salman Rushdie's wife, so she's used to a bit of discomfort.

was orlrite i spose...films are never as good as books tho eh!?
Still glad to see that they still believe the basic 'don't like it up em' storyline will sell.

Has anyone tried the works of Patrick O'Brian? I would expect that if you like reading about Sharp then these ones about life at sea during the same era are imho well worth a try.
