    thanks Ken - The new pre had me up late listening , every thing has suddenly become very musical

    this amp is a bit noisey - is that usual. it's not intrusive but it certainly hums little

    1. give the valve a wiggle. It might be that.

    2. try it from a different wall socket, you might have an earth loop.

    3. On 'earth loop' subject, this could be from a turntable if you have one. try unplugging the TT.
