Has anyone on here been caught out by the average speed check camera systems now commonly employed around 50mph zones on the motorway?

I haven't but I am always getting overtaken by people who are obviously going well over the stated limit and who will therefore (unless they stop dead at some point) be doing more than the average speed. Do they know something I don't or can I derive some satisfaction from the fact that they will be fined?

It may be an urban myth but I have read they can only get you if you are in the same lane you entered the zone as when you leave it.

if they are front facing at the end of the zone, then race like hell through the zone then tailgate a truck for the exit point.

    always worked for me.

I heard of one guy speeding past one of these cameras on the M1. However, he gets off before going past the next one, which is a tad unlucky for the few that follow him and don't!
