I need to source some decent 5,600uF caps for a few amplifiers of mine. Can anyone suggest the best ones out there, from an audio quality and longterm longevity point of view. Ideally from the UK, form anywhere easy like RS etc.

An audio engineer in USA uses these for my exact application but I'll have to wait for shipment:

Is 16V enough for your amplifier application?

Going on the value, I assume it's for decoupling, in which case value is not critical anyway... there is a wider choice in eg 10000uF

It's for a car audio amp which is brand new and unused, although ten years old. Just want to replace the old caps incase they start to leak. The value isn't critical, apparently!

Are those caps you reccommended a good long term proposition?

The Panasonic FCs are definately a long term proposition. They last approx 5000hrs. Check the measurements though to see if they fit.

I just opened up my amp and it's a pretty stagering coinsidence. The caps you suggested above are the very same as the ones in there! Same make, same dimensions, even the same graphics on the case! The only difference is mine are ten years old and 2200uF.

I can't see any signs of leakage though. Mind you the amp has never been run from new.

I now have 32 FET's to undo from the heatsink before I can swap them. What is that heat conducting paste called that goes between them? I may need some more if you have a link for that too...?

I will order the caps shortly.

It's the little guys at the top (not mine but same model on google search)...
