Nor would Nordost who were one of the first to come up with a 'cable toaster'.

Having used many cables the only one which benefited from some break-in time were a pair of the silver cables - but this was only a couple of hours.

The dnm and Linn cables I mainly use sound the same, to my ears, as when they were first connected.

I always wonder about this, if cables burn in then would it not be safe to assume they burn off eventually so that they nice acoustic property goes off after a certain hours of use? Hmm.... Just think of the potential market value of this suggestion.

    Hi Annex,

I've was told that the black gates I put in my pre should really change after a few hours use.

It sounded the same to me after a few hours, days and now a year later.

If 'burn-in' can be shown in caps, thats not of course to say that we can also say that it happens in cables.

Of course, Im happy to admit that I'm not a golden eared audiophile, and others with bat-like hearing may be able to detect things I can't.

The only things I've ever really detected a change in has been the Naim power amp, it sounds lousy when cold, and the Meadowlarks which needed huge amounts of playing to get to a decent state. I've never heard gear change from being bought to being allegedly run in. I sometimes wonder if run in means got used to?

best signal for burning is square wave, you can produce it with 'cool edit' program in your pc.

I bought some second hand Monster speaker cables - while the was sound difference after the burn in, they still sounded terrible...so, don't hold out for any improvement... ;)
